Biography[]

As per Pierce's instructions, Jessie, James and Meowth dropped off the Meteorite fragment they stole from the Nacrene Museum when they arrived at MT37 KS816 in Nacrene City. Doctor Zager and Pierce were waiting for them: the former took the fragment and with the assistance of his equipment, he was able to determine that the fragment was genuine and confirmed it contained materials not found anywhere on the planet.[1] Team Rocket later reported to Dr. Zager about a mansion they found, which could serve as their base, inhabited by Litwick. Zager reminded that Litwick were known to steal energies from people and Pokémon, though he did wish to have some experiments on them. Before he could continue, the connection was lost.[2]

Zager later sent Team Rocket to capture a number of Audino for his radar, but their efforts were thwarted by the heroes, who rescued the Audino.[3] He also had them investigate the research involving revival of Archen from a Fossil. Team Rocket were successful in obtaining the information, pleasing Zager, as he could use the power of the Dream Energy of the Dreamyard for his experiments.[4] Jessie and James (without Meowth) were in Nimbasa City; Zager ordered them to wait for further instructions, before their plan could be executed.[5] Once in Nimbasa City, Meowth called Dr. Zager, who started the operations. While the heroes left their Pokémon to be healed, Meowth snatched all of the Pokémon and boarded them on the trains through the vent system, while Zager disabled all of the communications systems. Zager then opened the drawbridge and stopped all the trains, so Team Rocket could steal many Pokémon and get them out of the city.[6]

Zager flew in his helicopter, intending on snatching the train with the Pokémon and take them away. However, the heroes' Pokémon thwarted their efforts, and once Ash, Cilan and Iris arrived, Zager flew off, his mission failed.[7] One night, Zager regrouped with Team Rocket, and went to an island to capture the Legendary Weather Trio Pokémon.[8] As Thundurus and Tornadus went on a rampage, Landorus was summoed to calm them down. Team Rocket observed the turn of events and called Dr. Zager: as the heroes distracted the Legendary Trio, Zager shot three laser beams to capture the Pokémon, and placed them inside sturdy cages. He attempted to fly away, but the heroes attacked his helicopter, damaging it, forcing him to discard the Legendary Trio, but he and Team Rocket swore to return to capture the Legendary Trio.[9]

He gave the next mission to the Team Rocket Trio, to capture a Tirtouga and a Carracosta. As those two were Fossil Pokémon, he informed the trio that such fossils could be found in the Twist Mountain. He logged out, intending on finding a time warp inside the mountain and use its power. Once Team Rocket captured Ash and Ferris, preventing their interference, Zager arrived, using his technology to revive Tirtouga from a Fossil, using the Dream World technology of Dr. Fennel and Professor Juniper, as well as the electric stones from Chargestone Cave. He intended to use its life force to open the time gate, which was a portal to the ancient world. While Tirtouga was revived, it started attacking Team Rocket and damaged Dr. Zager's machine, so Team Rocket ran off to capture it.[10]

Zager used his machines to trace Tirtouga's location, allowing Team Rocket to find it. They went to capture it, but Tirtouga evolved into a Carracosta and attacked them before running away. Zager suspected that the revival machine has sped up its process, and asked of Team Rocket to capture it, due to the time portal expanding. While Team Rocket trapped Carracosta and went to use its life force, the heroes arrived once more and defeated them, rescuing Carracosta. Carracosta went through the gate, which closed: Zager believed that was the last time that this portal would open. With their mission failed, Zager and Team Rocket left the mountain.[11] For their next mission, Team Rocket went to find a Mythical Pokémon, and found it was in Virbank City. Zager understood, and sent them equipment to find that Pokémon.[12]

Having found the Mythical Pokémon, Meloetta, was with the heroes, Team Rocket reported their findings to Dr. Zager. The latter believed that Meloetta's song was the key for their next plan.[13] Zager recorded Meloetta's song by a camera, while the heroes were spending time at the Junior Cup tournament.[14] Once Team Rocket found the ruins involved in their mission, Zager concluded that they had all the necessary pieces to execute their plan to unlock the mysterious power. He went to contact Giovanni, who wanted to go to Unova personally to witness this.[15] Zager went with Team Rocket forces to an underwater temple, using the song they recorded to unlock the power. Zager watched as Giovanni became overpowered by the Reveal Glass, causing the temple to emerge from the water.[16] Giovanni unleashed the Weather Trio in their incarnate forms, but without Meloetta's voice, the Trio went out of control. Giovanni, who snapped out of the power, retreated with Team Rocket and Doctor Zager, leaving the heroes to battle the Weather Trio.[17]
