Yellow is a female, but a running gag of the manga is for her to disguise herself as a boy and for most people not to notice otherwise. Her disguise simply consists of putting a hat over her head to hide her blonde ponytail. She first did this in the Yellow arc by the instruction of Green (or Blue in Japan), being ordered by her to keep her gender a secret at all costs unless it could be beneficial. Green also told her to do this to make it harder for others to track her, but even after the events of the Gold/Silver/Crystal arc she is still seen doing it (for some reason she didn't inform Red about what is the content of the hat, though Red knows about it at chapter 180) until the end of the Gold/Silver/Crystal arc. All later appearances she has appeared as a female and often without her hat.

Yellow is mostly happy-go-lucky, brave, and naïve girl, befitting child her age. Due to her pacifist nature, she doesn't want to inflict pain upon either Pokémon or people, and tries to work towards solutions without having to hurt either side, even if they are her enemies. Because of this, Yellow's fighting style initially focused on incapacitating her opponents without dealing much physical damage. Yellow has no interest in completing Pokédex nor training her Pokémon to become stronger and evolve, her reason is all she wants is for Pokémon to be her true friends, so she mostly released all the Pokémon she had captured, save for Ratty who is her first Pokémon, and the ones given to or decided to follow her.
Yellow is mostly happy-go-lucky and quite brave. She also is shown to be fairly smart when she is fighting Lance. Yellow is kind-hearted and seems to be close with Pokemon.

  +
While not as experienced or skilled as Red and her other friends, Yellow is a capable trainer in her own right. She is fairly smart, able to come up with counter strategies to defeat her opponents in a short time during battle that would have worked had she evolved her Pokémon earlier, something that a veteran trainer like Lance acknowledged. And though a pacifist, Yellow grew to learn the necessity of fighting. When angered, Yellow has no hesitation to be serious and fight against her opponent in full power. Having grown up in Viridian Forest, Yellow has strong attachment to her birthplace and the Pokémon living there. Watching her birthplace being attacked is one a few things that can make Yellow enraged.
Skill
Like most Pokédex Holders, they have their own skill or talent, Yellow has the power to heal Pokémon and to read a Pokémon's thought. Mostly Professor Oak stated that Yellow was the Healer.

She appeared as the main protagonist sent out by Green to look for the missing Red, she hid her identity as a girl by wearing a hat given to her by Green. She went all the way to Professor Oak's laboratory to find Red's injured Pika and healed his injuries. Her action earned suspicion from Oak who demanded explanation, but due to Green's instruction, Yellow couldn't answer his question. To test her, Oak has her Dody to fight against him. Yellow demonstrated her skill as a trainer by ending the fight without the two Pokémon getting hurt. Seeing that Pika also followed Yellow without hesitation, Oak finally entrusted both Red's Pokédex and Pika to Yellow with the task of finding Red despite the opposition from Red's friends.

Yellow later found out that the Elite Four were behind the reason why Red was missing and the chaos in the Kanto region. Seeing the threat posed by the Elite Four, Yellow requested Blue's help to train her. Under Blue's guidance, she learned Pokémon battle. Eventually, she, Blaine, Green, and Blue worked together with former Team Rocket members to fight against the Elite Four. She teamed up with Blaine when the group must went separate ways, and they encountered Lance. With Pika and the power sent by Red, Blue, and Green's Pokémon, she was able to empower Pika strong enough to defeat Lance with a new move, Megavolt.

Yellow in Pokémon Adventures: Volume 7

Yellow Caballero is one of the many main protagonists from the Pokémon Adventures manga. She is also a Pokédex Holder, like the others. She is the main protagonist of the Yellow ark that stretches from volume 4 to volume 7 of the manga.

Appearance

Yellow is female, but a running gag of the manga is for her to disguise herself as a boy and for most people not to notice otherwise. Her disguise simply consists of putting a hat over her head to hide her long blonde ponytail. She first did this in the Yellow arc by the instruction of Green, being ordered by her to keep her gender a secret at all costs unless it could be beneficial.

Her overall design is that she has long yellow-blonde hair in a ponytail with a layered fringe at the front, and wears a straw sun hat most of the time, even when she is revealed to be a girl. She is also very short for her age and slim, and wears a long sleeved black shirt under a yellow tunic dress that is edged with green, blue tights and purple ankle boots. Her eyes are a dark greenish yellow.

Personality

Biography

Red, Green and Blue arc

She first appeared in volume three of the first arc though only with a minor cameo, where she was rescued by Red in Viridian Forest and later nursed him back to health after he defeated Giovanni and asked him if he can be the new gym leader of Viridian City, Red promised her he will take the role after he became stronger.

Yellow arc

Crystal arc

She helped Gold, Silver and Crystal along with the other Pokédex Holders during this chapter. It is also in this chapter that Red finally knew that Yellow was a girl (because she had to remove her hat), which also surprised Gold and Crystal.

FireRed and LeafGreen arc

She appeared to help Silver find his father, though in the end, they turned into stone.

Emerald arc

They were freed from their stone state because of the help of Emerald, Ruby, Gold, Crystal, and Sapphire. The other Pokédex holders used Hydro Cannon, Blast Burn and Frenzy Plant. She also assisted in the attack by synchronizing her power with Pika, Chuchu and Pichu to use Volt Tackle to win in the battle against Kyogre. Later, they are surprised when Red said that why won't they hold a match and each and every Pokédex Holder will join, and she loses in the first round.
