Will, Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver

Will is the first of the Elite Four in Johto. He is a Psychic-type trainer.

Appearance

Will is a mysterious man, who has Lilac hair, at times, covering his domino mask, and wears a suit, posed with a lot of energy.

Gold and Silver

Will wears a maroon suit, with a dark vest, and a red tie. His eyes are concealed.

Crystal

Will's appearance remains the same as it is in Gold and Silver.

HeartGold and SoulSilver

Will has lilac hair that falls over his left eye, while a bang frames his right eye. He wears a black tailcoat-like waistcoat, with a dark pink tuxedo top underneath it, while the waistcoat sports two rows of double brass buttons, with a gold line between them. He wears dark pink pants, with black derby shoes, while a frilled white cravat is present on his neck.

Personality

Suave and charming, Will is quite the gentleman and judging from his appearance it's no surprise. His attitude in a way subverts the cold, calculating natures that are typical of Psychic-type Pokémon. In fact, Will is fairly sociable and regal, always battling with a flamboyant sense of style.

Etymology

The name Will comes from willpower (mental strength and determination) and possibly, maybe also due to his theatrical battle style and effeminacy, playwright William Shakespeare (in Shakespeare's era, the roles of women were also played by men).

His Japanese name, Itsuki, could originate from 月 (tsuki, moon, as the moon is often a symbol of mysticism (he also resembles the Sailor Moon series' Tuxedo Mask somewhat)), 一 (itsu, one, as he's the first Johto Elite Four member), or 偽り (itsuwari, lie, as telling convincing lies requires a lot of intelligence).

Gold and Silver

Will is the weakest Elite Four member featured in the series as a whole, in terms of level and proportionally, as normally the difference between the level of the last Gym Leader's main Pokémon and the first Pokémon of the Johto Elite Four is usually 5-10 levels, but in fact, his Pokémon are almost the same level as that of Clair. Still all his Pokémon have the Psychic move at a level they would normally not, and given that his Pokémon have a high Special Attack, he can be a serious threat if underestimated. However his Pokémon are of weak defenses.

Crystal

His role in Crystal is the same as it is in Gold and Silver. Still using good offensive Pokémon that can be a big threat.
