Trivia
- Its Japanese name, Miruhog, may be a combination of meerkat (since it is shown to stand like one) and groundhog (from its appearance). Its English name, Watchog, may be a combination of Watch (obviously) and groundhog.
- Watchog was revealed on an Oha Suta trailer on July 29, 2010. It was officially revealed on the September issue of Coro Coro on August 8, 2010.
- Watchog's yellow stripes, which are said to "light up to threaten opponents", resemble reflective highway safety vests.
- So far every Generation has had a rodent as one of the early Pokémon seen. These include Rattata & Raticate (Generation I), Sentret & Furret (Generation II), Zigzagoon & Linoone (Generation III), Bidoof & Bibarel (Generation IV), and Patrat & Watchog (Generation V).
- When you go up to any TV, you might get a show called Whats that? The show features a Watchog named Watchy, who appears to have quite an attitude.
- Watchog has a big white fluff on the end of its tail to alert others. This system is very similar to a white-tailed deer's-- they flash their tails to the rest of the herd to warn them of danger.
- The stripes Watchog has are almost like Umbreon's rings,as the both glow.
