Meeting Blue (Pokémon Red)

Meeting Blue

Leave the house and go over to the larger building on the right. This building is the laboratory. Walking to the back of the laboratory will take you to a table with three Poké Balls. Talk to the person next to the table to find out that Professor Oak is currently absent. This character is Blue, your rival.

Next, walk out of the laboratory and up to Route 1. Just as you enter the tall grass, a voice cries out to you to stop. As the person approaches you, you discover that the person is Professor Oak, who explains that wild Pokémon live in the tall grass, and that you would need your own Pokémon for your protection. He brings you into his laboratory, where Blue complains about waiting. Oak tells Blue to wait and states that there were three Poké Balls on the table next to him, and how after all his years as a serious trainer, he only had those three left. He offers you a selection of three Pokémon: Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander.
