Vital Spirit also known as Willingness, a ability introduced in Generation III that prevents sleep. Outside of battle, if a Pokémon with Vital Spirit is leading, it increases the chances of battling a higher-leveled Pokémon by 50%. It is one of two Abilities that prevent sleeping (the other is Insomnia).
