Venonat (コンパン Kongpang) is a Bug/Poison-type Pokémon. Venonat evolves into Venomoth starting at level 31.

Venonat is covered with large purple fur. The feet of Venonat are brown and are about half as long as Venonat itself. Venonat have two white antannae that stick out of their head. The most notable feature of Venonat is their large red eyes.

Venonat can have the ability Compoundeyes or the ability Tinted Lens. Compoundeyes increases Venonat's accuracy by 30%. Tinted Lens increases the power of non-effective moves by 1.5x. Venonat's eyes are very accurate; catching the smallest of Venonat's prey at any time.

To get one in Red and Blue, it can be found on routes 12, 13, 14, 15, and the Safari Zone.
To get one in one in Yellow, it can be found on routes 14, 15, 24, and 25.
To get one in Gold and Silver, it can be found on routes 24, 25, 43, and the bug catching contest.
To get one in Crystal, it can be caught on routes 9, 10, 14, 15, 24, 25, 43, the bug catching contest, National Park, Illex Forest, and by headbutting trees.
To get one in Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Colosseum, and XD, it has to be traded from FireRed and LeafGreen.
To get one in FireRed and LeafGreen, it can be found on routes 12, 13, 14, 15, Berry Forest, Bond Bridge, and the Safari Zone area 3.
To get one in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, you can find it on route 229 with the PokeRadar.

- Venonat derives from the words "Venom" and "Gnat."
- In earlier Pokémon books, it is said that Venonat can fly. However, Venonat's wings have never been revealed in the anime and games.
