The Tree of Beginning
Mew's supposed "home" in the movie Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. Although it looks like a tree, it is actually a rock formation. At the start of the movie, there was a battle between a green side and a red side. Aaron goes to the Tree of Beginning to meet with mew so that he could give mew his aura to stop the fighting. Once his aura went to mew, mew directed it to the tree of beginning. The tree of beginning connects all the crystals in the land, and once the aura was transfered to the tree, all the crystals glowed green, and the battle stopped. However, Aarons life was sacrificed.
Long after that, Ash and his friends arrive at Orudoran Castle. Later into the movie, Mew takes Ash's Pikachu and Team Rocket's Meowth to the tree of beginning. Ash, his friends, Lucario, and Team Rocket go looking for them at the tree of beginning. Once there, they find that the tree is actually alive even though the tree is a rock formation. They also find that there are white blood cells shaped like Pokémon that eat things that aren't Pokémon or plants and that regi-rock, ice, and steel are there trying to destroy them. Ash finds Pikachu, but the trees white blood cells eat him as he tells pikachu that he loves him. Mew then tells the tree that Ash is a friend so that ash is ok, but then gets sick from the energy it used. This is when you truly see that the tree is alive. You see green blood cells turning red because mew's sick, and the crystals were disintegrating. When Mew was sick, so was the tree.

There're some rumors around the web that there's a way to get Mew in HG and SS. When beaten the whole game, there is a secret place where the tree of beginning is. If you can find it, you can find Mew.
