Trading is one of the ways that you can complete the Pokédex. You can use trading to get other Pokémon that you would like, or you can use trading to evolve certain Pokémon.

How to Trade

There are many ways to trade.

  1. You can go to a Pokémon Center and go to the trade place and trade via two people in all Generations
  2. You can go to the world trade center in Jubilife City and trade with people around the world in Generation IV games.
  3. You can't trade over Wi-Fi in Gen I-III. You can only trade in Wireless Clubs.
  4. Also Find in Buildings
  5. In Generation V, it's possible to trade via the C-Gear pretty much anywhere, not just in the Pokémon Centers. This also includes the Pokémon League against the Elite Four. The only restriction is that nothing with an HM can be traded.
  6. In Generation VI, there is a feature called Wonder Trade, which has you send one pokemon and almost immediately recieve a random pokemon from another random player in the world.

Notes

  • In Black and White, in order to trade, you must defeat the Striaton City Gym Leader and (indirectly) obtain the Dream Mist by defeating Team Plasma in the Dreamyard.
  • Traded Pokémon cannot be nicknamed.
