Surf is a Water-type move introduced in Generation I in which the user creates a wave and attacks opponents with it. The only way to learn this attack is using the HM03. This move appears in all games.
Effect
Outside Battle
By using Surf in the water, you can travel seas, lakes, etc. In some places, you also need to use Waterfall and in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald you can use Dive.
In Battle
Generation I and II
Uses a wave to attack foes and allies in battle.It has a similarty to Muddy water.
Generation III
It attacks with a wave, in a Double Battle it attacks both foes.
Generation IV
It attacks with a wave, in Double Battles attacks the foes and your ally. If any target, including your ally has Dry Skin, Water Absorb, etc. it won't have any effect on them, but it will restore the Pokémon's HP.
Special effects
Makes double damage on foes that are underwater (used Dive move)
Special Pokémon
In Pokemon Battle Revolution you can download by Mystery Gift a Pikachu that knows Surf, a normal one cannot learn this attack however.
