This Claydol is a Ground/Psychic-type Pokémon and is Palace Maven Spenser's strongest Pokémon.
Biography
Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire
When Spenser battled Ash, Claydol was the last Pokémon he used, after his Venusaur was defeated. By using Teleport to avoid its opponent's attacks before striking back, Claydol easily defeated Ash's Swellow by tossing sand on it and launching a Hyper Beam. It then faced Ash's Sceptile, who evaded its Psybeam. Claydol repeated its teleport tactic, shifting to Sceptile and tossing sand around to hurt it. Sceptile was pushed at the brink of a cliff, and Sceptile started to glow, but the summoned clouds negated that. Claydol continued to spin around, tossing sand to hurt Sceptile and striking it with Psybeam. However, as the sun shined once more, Sceptile learned Solar Beam during the battle: it launched the attack before Claydol could execute Hyper Beam, defeating it.[1]
Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl
Claydol appeared in a flashback with its Trainer when Ash recalled his journey to earn every symbol from the Battle Frontier.[2]

Trivia
- Claydol's use of Sandstorm was never actually mentioned, but Claydol whipped up two Sandstorms whilst fighting Swellow and Sceptile, although apparently these Sandstorms were caused by the speed of Claydol's Rapid Spin.
