Sketch (Japanese: スケッチ, HepburnSketch) is a Normal-type move introduced in Generation II. It is Smeargle's signature move. Smeargle can learn the move every ten levels or by going to a Move Reminder.

Description[]

Games Description
GSC Copies the foe's move permanently.
RSE Copies the foe's last move permanently.
FRLG This move copies the move last used by the foe, then disappears.
DPPt It enables the user to learn a move used by the foe. Once used, the move Sketch disappears.
HGSS It enables the user to learn a move used by the foe. Once used, the move Sketch disappears.

It enables the user to permanently learn the move last used by the foe. Once used, Sketch disappears.

It enables the user to learn a move used by the foe. Once used, the move Sketch disappears. It learns sketched attacks permanently. This also means the Pokémon can learn legendary's signature moves like Judgment or Shadow Force.

Trivia[]

  • Sketch is the only move to not have a PP value of a multiple of 5.
    • The PP value of 1 was chosen specifically due to its mechanic; since Sketch is immediately replaced with the Sketched move, there would be no logical reason for it to have any higher PP value.
  • Sketch cannot be used to copy the following moves:
    • Chatter
    • Struggle
    • Shadow Moves
  • Sketch can copy these moves, but they cannot be used by Smeargle:
