Skarmory (Japanese: エアームド Airmd) is a Steel/Flying-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II.

Appearance

Skarmory resembles an ostrich clad in steel armor, with long, sharp-taloned legs and a head that looks like wearing a steel helmet covering its beak. Though not so aerodynamic and seemingly heavy in size, a Skarmory can still fly, which is proved by its ability to use the HM Fly and the fact that it flies during its appearance in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue rescue team.

Special abilities

Skarmory is the only Steel/Flying Pokémon. Its Defense is the highest among all the Flying-Type Pokémon.

Being a Steel/Flying Pokémon, Skarmory takes heavy damage from Ice, Fire and Rock-type moves, which are super-effective against flying types. Being a flying dual-type, it is also more resistant to Fighting attacks than a pure-steel.

It is the only Pokémon to learn Steel Wing by leveling up.

Evolution
