Trivia

  • As with previous Psychic-Types from other Pokémon games, this Pokémon's appearance is in line with ancient indigenous cultures.
  • It is the only dual-type Pokémon that can learn Synchronoise by level up and receive STAB.

Origin

Sigilyph seems to based on the geoglyph in the Nazca Lines, specifically the hummingbird figure, or the Andean Condor, and Kachina dolls. It also slightly resembles a wind chime.

Etymology

Sigilyph’s English name is a likely combination of “sigil” and “glyph” (both of which refer to old symbols), or possibly "sylph", which is a mythological spirit of the air according to folklore.

Its Japanese name, Symboler, appears to be a combination of “symbol” and “bora” or Ra.
