Shadow Pok'emon are Pokemon whose hearts where corrupted and locked behind several "Doors" keeping the light from their heart from shining through. Constant care, and battle is needed to unlock the doors to the Pokemon's heart; after all the doors are unlocked the player can then purify the Pokemon using the Relic Stone in Agate Village.

Creation

Cipher created each Shadow Pokemon from his lab located close to the center of the Orre region. In the lab Ein tried to perfect the formula for a Pokemon that was not afraid to attack other trainers. Once he found out that each Pokemon's heart could be locked away he used this to create the shadow Pokemon, perfecting his formula. However, due to the amount of corruption flowing from the Pokemon it is possible to tell the difference between a normal "Pure" Pokemon and a Shadow Pokemon. Only certain eyes can catch the strange, dark aura coming from them.

The 'Strongest' Shadow Pok'emon

The strongest Shadow Pokemon was the Shadow Tyranitar, who was Chipers goal to begin with.; To create an ultimate fighting machine. Shadow Tyranitar was one of the very last first Generation Shadow Pokemon, and was Chiper's very own. Chiper allowed his Peons to corrupt more of the Tyranitar's soul than any other pokemon making it a human hater. A pokemon fully fearless of humans, one with no masters. Chiper, managed to slip up and allow himself to be caught up, tied by the Hero of Pokemon Colosseum and with the Master Ball in tow the Hero caught the all powerful Shadow Pokemon; ending the shadow pokemon project in the Orre region and breaking Chiper's spirit.

The Strongest Shadow Pok'emon

The strongest Shadow Pokemon in the second Generation would be Shadow Lugia. Lugia, already being the strongest Pokemon ever captured by Chiper, (And several new characters) and turned into a Shadow Pokemon, like the first game. After some time however Lugia could not hold his power and was caught inside the Master Ball of yet another Hero, this one being the young boy in Pokemon X.D.
