Samurai is a Trainer that Ash met in Viridian Forest. He is featured in the episode Challenge of the Samurai!, where he battles Ash using Pinsir. After he calls back Pinsir, he sends out Metapod. Metapod is to battle Ash's Metapod. But the only move Metapod can learn is Harden, so Samurai and Ash have a long battle of Harden attacks. It never really ends, either, because they are interrupted by a horde of Beedrill.

Trivia
- Samurai's hat resembles Empleon's horns with the middle horn missing.
- In Japanese, Challenge of the Samurai! is called Challenge of the Samurai Boy. So in the Japanese version, the "Samurai Boy's" name is not really Samurai.
