STAB is an acronym meaning Same Type Attack Bonus. A fire-type Pokémon gains a STAB from fire-type attacks, a water-type Pokémon gains a STAB from water-type attacks, and so-forth. The damage multiplies by 1.5 of its original damage ratio. Normal type Pokémon get STAB despite popular belief.
