Roar in a Normal-type move introduced in Generation I. The user lets out a loud roar that causes wild Pokemon to flee (in a Trainer battle it forces the opposing Trainer to switch out their current pokemon for another pokemon choosen at random, from their party.

Pokemon with the Soundproof ability are immune to the effects of Roar (as it is a sound-based move).

Roar can be taught via Technical Machine, Number 05.
