Relic Fragment

The Relic Fragment is an object in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time & Explorers of Darkness and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, owned by the Partner Pokémon. It is part of the main plot in the games, used to access both the Hidden Land and Temporal Tower.

The Relic Fragment chooses who is worthy to go to the Hidden Land of its own power and was supposedly created by Dialga as special key that can access the gap in time that the Hidden Land is inside of.

The fragment was one day found by the Partner and became their personal treasure. During the first Chapter, the Relic Fragment was stolen by Zubat and Koffing of Team Skull, who promptly fled into Beach Cave. After the Player and Partner defeat the two Poison Pokémon, the Relic Fragment is recovered. Throughout the game, the Partner uses the Relic Fragment as a source of inspiration for their loved of exploring.

During the search Hidden Land, Torkoal remembers that according to legend, special proof with a peculiar pattern is required. This turns out to be the pattern on the Relic Fragment and Wigglytuff recognizes the pattermn, having seen it before in Brine Cave. During the expedition to Brine cave, Team Skull, having learned the secret of Relic Fragment, steal it again, but they return it to the Player and Partner after they are attacked by the cave's vicious bandits. When the Player, Partner, and Grovyle reach the end of Brine Cave, they discover a giant version of the fragment's pattern on the wall it reacts with the Relic Fragment. The pattern on the wall sends out a beam of light that summons Lapras, who takes the three across the ocean to the Hidden Land. Along the way, Lapras reveals the history and purpose of the Relic Fragment.

When the three reach the Old Ruins inside the Hidden Land, they discover a monument with writing that states the temple is the Rainbow Stoneship that travels to Temporal Tower. The temple has a hole at its top where the Relic Fragment is to be inserted and will activate the Rainbow Stoneship. After Dusknoir and Grovyle return to the future, the Stoneship activates and takes the Player and Partner toward Temporal Tower.
