The Red Chain was an item re-created by the leader of Team Galactic, Cyrus, in order to control Palkia and Dialga. The player will never obtain this item. It is unknown where the chain went (or if it simply crumbled) after the events atop Mt. Coronet, though it can be presumed that it was destroyed by the legendary lake trio in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, or by Giratina in Pokémon Platinum.

In the anime, it seemed to be some kind of glove with a red jewel that glows when Cyrus takes over Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf.

The only way to obtain the Red Chain is by a cheating device.
