Profesor Rowan is a fictional character who appeared in the game, manga and anime versions of the fourth generation series of Pokémon; he's also known as the professor of the Sinnoh region. He appears in the first, second and third episode of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. In both the game and the anime, he is responsible for giving beginner trainers a starter Pokemon, specifically Turtwig, Chimchar, or Piplup.

Like Prof. Oak, Professor Rowan is the lead manager of his laboratory; he is given the task of introducing the player throughout the beginning of the game as well as helping his granddaughter, Dawn, choose which Pokémon to start with in the anime. Here, Prof Rowan can be found in Sandgem town researching and collecting data on various Pokémon. He is voiced by Billy Beach in English. He also upgrades your Pokedex to National Mode when you have seen 150 Sinnoh Pokemon.
