Primo is a character that appears in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen and Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, first appearing in Generation III as the host of the Poké Dude Show. His name, however, is first discovered when he makes his appearance in Generation IV, not when he makes his debut in Generation III. In Generation III he is known as simply Poké Dude. His only known relations are his twin brother, Maximo and his grandfather, the old man from Viridian City, an infamous NPC known for the catching tutorial in Generations I and III.
Primo is also found in Violet City's Pokémon Center in Generation IV, where the player can obtain a selection of wallpapers by inputting certain words using the easy chat system. The words are randomized with each different trainer ID; the words can be found by using filb.de's phrase generator.
An NPC with Primo's exact trainer sprite is the presenter of the Pokéathlon in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. It is unclear whether this is Primo or not; however, he can occasionally be seen competing in the Power course of the Pokéathlon, using Machamp, Rhydon and Granbull.
Appearances
Generation III
Primo appears in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen as the presenter of the Poké Dude Show.
The show is filmed south of Route 1 and broadcasts on the Teachy TV, guiding the player through the six main gameplay elements, being:
- How to battle
- What a status condition is
- What a type matchup is
- How to catch Pokémon
- The principles of Technical Machines
- How to register a key item
Generation IV
In Generation IV, Primo is found in Violet City's Pokémon Center, where he will ask the player what they think of him. The player can input any random message from a selected group of them. However, if they input two certain phrases, Primo will gift them with either a box wallpaper or a Pokémon. The phrases are randomly generated depending on the player's trainer ID, and can be generated using filb.de's phrase generator.
Visual appearance
Primo is muscular in build, and always seen with a cheerful-look on his face. He has flat, cloudy-grey-tinted hair and bushy eyebrows. In addition, he is clothed in a white vest and wears a necklace, with a crimson 'P' hanging from it.
