With Pokésav, players can edit many aspects of the game including Pokémon, their movesets, the inventory, and in-game records. Because of this, many people consider it to be a "hacking" program used to gain an unfair advantage in competitive play. Creating a Pokémon of any caliber may only take a few minutes with the use of Pokésav, whereas it may take hours and hours to legitimately breed and train the same Pokémon. This brings up questions as to whether the use of the program is ethical.
Pokésav is a hacking tool used for altering multiple components of the game, such as amount of money held, character gender, underground items, bag items, accessories, the Pokétch, seals, the Pokémon in the party and in storage, the amount of Poffins held, any Pal Park Pokémon, any events that may have occurred; such as any Gym badges that have been obtained, the Pokémon obtainable in different areas, and the list goes on. It is quite similar to Pokégen, but the latter is better in terms of making legitimate Pokémon.
Saved files can be loaded into the software using the "Load File" option, and then suitably editing as per the demand. Then it is saved into the desired formats as needed.
