Pokemon Yellow (AKA Special Pikachu Edition) is well known for being one of the first Pokemon games ever made. Its also the first game where you can have Pokemon walk with you. In the game, your starter Pokémon, Pikachu, tags along behind you.

This game is very much alike Pokemon Red and Blue. But the game is more based on Ash Ketchum's life from the anime. Like his adventures in Kanto, the main character gets a Pikachu as a starter Pokemon, getting the main starter Pokémon later in the game by different people and with the same attitudes. You receive a Charmander from a not-so-good trainer, Bulbasaur from a lady who nurses it if it likes you, and Squirtle from Officer Jenny when you receive the badge from Lt. Surge. Even Pikachu! He doesn't like you at first, but he grows very fond of you. You also meet up with Jesse and James from Team Rocket. In the game, they actually use Meowth as a fighting Pokemon! One flaw about the start from Ash's jouney is his rival's Eevee! The rival has an Eevee in anime, but not as a starter. At the start of the game, Professor Oak was going to give you the Pokémon as neither of you knew what it is! But as you walk up to get it, you rival comes and pushes you into a wall and snatches it! As then, Professor Oak then gives you an untamed Pikachu that he caught. And that's where Ash comes in.
