Pokémon Yellow is a remake of Pokémon Red and Blue, following the success of the anime series. Like in the anime, the main character is given a Pikachu that refuses to enter a Pokéball and instead follows behind. The game also features appearances by Team Rocket members Jessie, James, and their Meowth.
Along with the release of Pokémon Yellow, a special edition yellow Pokémon-themed Game Boy Color was also released. Pokemon Yellow was the last game released in the United States for the original Game Boy.
