'PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond' (Japanese: ポケパーク2 ＢＷ ビヨンド・ザ・ワールド Pokepāku 2 BW Biyondo za Wārudo, Poké Park 2: BW - Beyond the World) is a new game for the Wii. It is a sequel to the first game PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure.
Unlike the previous game, however, the player is now able to control Pikachu, Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott. However, you do not have all four pals at the same time. You start out with Pikachu. After meeting Samurott, you will acquire Oshawott. Then you will meet Snivy at Verdant Court in the Arbor Area, and Tepig at Rockridge Fort in the Crag Area. Also, the attractions in Wish Park have been enhanced so that four players can cooperate and compete with each other.
In the game you are not able to change Pokémon during a battle just like in the previous game, but there are also areas where Pokémon will let you ride on them like Mandibuzz or Drifblim that allows you to go to areas you couldn't get to yourself. When you beat the game, you gain access to the Arcane Area.
This game has a noticeably darker plot than its prequel.
Plot and/or ending details may follow.
Pikachu and Piplup are heading to PokéPark to play. Meeting a bunch of Pokémon along the way to Seasong Beach, such as Timburr, they come across Krokorok and Sandile, who are advertising Wish Park to Watchog, Munchlax and Cinccino. Overhearing the conversation, Piplup wants to go to Wish Park with Pikachu. Along the way, they meet Piplup's friend, Oshawott. Finding Krokorok and Sandile, they request to go to Wish Park. After being charged 10 berries per Pokémon (20 berries), a portal appears and Piplup and Pikachu jump through it to Wish Town.
Arriving at Wish Park, where the ground seems to be floating and the background is gloomy, Gothita greets them and acts as their guide. They travel to Cofagrigus' Attraction, where the Pokémon can get cake. Meeting Cofagrigus, the Attraction Boss, he leads Oshawott and Pikachu to play Cake Contraption, where you get to make and eat your own cake. After finishing the minigame, Pikachu and Piplup get ready to eat their cake but get interrupted by Pansear. Pansear warns the two not to eat the cake, as the other Pokémon are behaving oddly after eating their cake. Cofagrigus appears, and stuffs Pansear's mouth full of cake, which causes Pansear to want even more cake. About to stuff Pikachu and Piplup's mouth full of cake, Oshawott appears and saves them. Battling six Yamasks, Pikachu defeats them all. After the battle, a mysterious voice says that not one of PokéPark's Pokémon shall escape. Two giant shadow hands appear, and chase Pikachu, Piplup, and Oshawott across Wish Park, towards the entrance. Getting trapped near the portal, Piplup sacrifices himself to knock Pikachu through the portal. Pikachu feels distraught about what has happened as the portal suddenly closes behind.
Oshawott takes Pikachu to see Samurott, the Keeper of the Cove Area. Oshawott reports about finding the missing Pokémon in Wish Park, about the poster portal, and how Piplup ended up being trapped. Samurott explains that the two must work as a team if they are to crack the case. Oshawott is reluctant to do so at first, but Samurott knows that there are limitations as to what one Pokémon can do alone. After Pikachu wins a battle with Oshawott, Oshawott teams up with him. Oshawott and Pikachu meet up with Sandile and Krokorok, but the crocs aren't so willing to tell them about the portal. However, a battle convinces them to spill the beans. Krokorok says that it takes a great amount of friendship power to open the portal to Wish Park -- the more there are, the easier it'll be. Oshawott and Pikachu gather the friends they have made while in the Cove Area, and all of them summon the power to wish for the portal to open. They succeed, and the two renter Wish Park. Gothita once again shows up, saying that returning the Pokémon to PokéPark is a wish she can't grant. Upon their second meeting with Cofagrigus, he tells them that it's impossible to release the Pokémon from their current state. In fact, the only way to break the spell is to ring the Wish Bell, located within the highest tower. Cofagrigus explains that the Cake Contraption has improved, and it must be cleared should the two heroes wish to ring the bell. Once the attraction is cleared, another battle with Cofagrigus ensues. The heroes destroy the cake Cofagrigus is on (while also dealing with Yamasks who appear periodically), and then best him in battle. After the fight, the bridge to the Wish Bell unfolds, and Pikachu and Oshawott ring the bell. All the Pokémon revert back to their normal state at the sound of the bell and travel back to the Cove Area. However, Piplup is nowhere to be found. Cofagrigus believes that Piplup may have traveled to one of the other three zones in Wish Park. The four zones all lead to Wish Palace, but the only way to gain access is to clear the other attractions. Gothita then shows up, telling Cofagrigus that he's already revealed too much. Oshawott starts wondering about the other zones, and he and Pikachu decide to head back.
As the two return to the Cove Area through the portal, Pikachu meets up with the legendary Pokémon Reshiram in a vision. Reshiram tells Pikachu that what he's experienced so far is only the beginning. A greater disaster is happening in PokéPark, and that Pikachu is destined to save it. Pikachu then relays what he has just seen to Oshawott, who is astounded. Oshawott and Pikachu then discuss their experience with Samurott, who explains that the case isn't closed until the perpetrators are exposed. He believes they should search the other areas to find Piplup. Oshawott and Pikachu decide to go to the Arbor Area. In order to access the area, they must battle Krookodile to convince him to open the gates. Once there, Pikachu and Oshawott meet up with Princess Snivy. She explains to the Bisharp that she knows them and he allows them to pass into Verdant Court, whereupon they meet up with Queen Serperior. The group explain to the Queen that a piece of the poster portal is missing and the Queen explains that the piece was made into an invitation to the Berry Party to be delivered by Deerling. When Oshawott and Pikachu find Deerling, they meet up with Snivy as well. The Princess says that Deerling is a close friend of hers. Deerling says that she placed the piece inside a tree stump for safe keeping, so Oshawott and Pikachu have to retrieve it. Snivy believes she'll get to have fun if she tags along, so she joins the party after a game of Chase. After recovering the missing piece and returning it to its place, Zorua says that his friend Zoroark escorted some Pokémon to Wish Park, unaware that those who did wouldn't return. Gathering all the friends they had made thus far while in Arbor Area, Pikachu, Oshawott and Snivy summon enough friendship power to open the portal.
Upon stepping through, Pikachu and company find themselves in a different part of Wish Park, where Pokémon seem to be dancing non-stop. Gothorita shows up, along with Zoroark, who doesn't recognize her friend anymore. But after a brief fight, the group brings Zoroark back to her senses, after which Gothorita departs. The heroes meet up with Chandelure, who tells Pikachu, Oshawott and Snivy that the Wish Bell must be sounded to free the Pokémon. Chandelure requests the heroes to try out his Dance Inferno, where you try to dance like Lopunny. After finishing the minigame, Chandelure says that the party hasn't ended. He says that the heroes have to get past him first to reach the bell. After destroying the dance equipment, Chandelure confronts the heroes, while summoning Litwicks and Lampents to back him up. Once Chandelure is beaten, the bridge to the Wish Bell is cleared. At that moment, Gothitelle shows up, along with Gothita and Gothorita. Gothitelle is not pleased with the heroes interfering with her master's plans to make Wish Park take the place of PokéPark. Then Zoroark shows up, and she, along with Zorua and Piplup, stand up to Gothitelle. Gothitelle departs, as she doesn't enjoy fighting, and her cohorts disappear as well. Pikachu, Oshawott, and Snivy realize they still need to ring the Wish Bell. When they ring the bell, the Pokémon who have fallen under the spell return to the Arbor Area. The heroes decide to do the same as well, but Piplup decides to stay behind and tell other Pokémon the truth about Wish Park.
On the journey back through the portal, Pikachu has another vision. This time, he meets the legendary Pokémon Zekrom, who tells him that a force known as the "Dark Vortex" threatens to engulf both PokéPark and Wish Park. Zekrom says that Pikachu and his friends must find a way to stop this from happening. The heroes tell Queen Serperior about the phenomena, and the Queen believes that the schemers in Wish Park are somehow connected. Just then, Zoroark tells about Gothitelle's plans to befriend the PokéPark in the Crag Area. The Heroes go to Krookodile, and he opens the gateway to the Crag Area. At the entrance to Rockridge Fort, Pikachu, Oshawott, and Snivy are met by Victini, who is looking for a friend somewhere within. Before he leaves, though, he gives a small hint as to how to get inside the fort. The gatekeeper, Bastiodon, requests a secret word to enter, and after the party guesses correctly, he lets them in on an upcoming Battle Tournament. When they approach a cannon, they hear a voice calling from inside. The voice introduces himself as Tepig, and that he got stuck in the cannon while practicing a new move. Oshawott realizes that Tepig was the one Victini was looking for, and why Victini had trouble finding him. Snivy decides to fire the cannon to get Tepig out, and they ask a Darumaka how to do so. Despite Tepig's protests, the group launches him out of the cannon. Upset, Tepig fights the party to express how he felt, but during the fight, he realizes he may have just pulled off a new move. He realizes that the group was only trying to help out, and so becomes a member of the group. Oshawott believes that the group will find more evidence of the Wish Park crew if they participate in the Tournament, but Tepig says they first need permission from Emboar, the Crag Area's Keeper.
Tepig explains Emboar that he plans to team up with Pikachu, Oshawott, and Snivy and that they're going to participate in the Tournament. Emboar tells the group that there are two additional conditions. First, one of them must show how tough they are by smashing a nearby rock. After Tepig smashes the rock, Emboar is impressed and tells them the second condition: they must retrieve the Bravery Beard from a cave. The quartet travels to the cave (by way of being launched out of the cannon) and successfully retrieves the Bravery Beard. Emboar deems them worthy to participate in the Tournament, and Darmanitan unlocks the gate. Entering the Colosseum, the heroes meet up with Victini, who thanks them for finding Tepig. Victini wishes to grant the heroes a power-up, but Tepig believes they can all pull through using their own powers. When the Tournament is about to start, the group find that the main gate is closed and have to enter using a hallway next to the gate. When Pikachu, Oshawott, Snivy, and Tepig enter the arena, they are confronted by Hydreigon. After Hydreigon is defeated, Scraggy shows up, saying he saw Hydreigon whisking Pokémon away into Wish Park. Hydreigon is frustrated after being ratted out, and Emboar puts the Tournament on hold. Hydreigon punches the wall to reveal a hidden poster portal, and just when Emboar is about to deal with the brutal Pokémon, he is knocked to the ground by Haxorus, who has taken Victini hostage. Hydreigon and Haxorus escape through the portal. Summoning everyone they've befriended while in the Crag Area, Pikachu, Oshawott, Snivy, and Tepig muster enough energy to open the portal.
When the quartet enters the portal, they find themselves in yet another area of Wish Park. In this part, the Pokémon all seem to be infuriated and want to fight. The heroes meet up once again with Gothitelle, Haxorus, and Hydreigon. Haxorus decides to take on the heroes himself, setting up other tough Pokémon to bar the way. Regardless of this attempt, the heroes make their way past all the tough Pokémon and do battle with Haxorus. After the battle, Gothitelle deems Hydreigon and Haxorus unworthy of Victini's favor, and so decides to give it to her master instead. Distraught, the two brutes try to take Victini by force, but are knocked away by a dark force. Then, a shadowy Pokémon comes forth -- Darkrai. Pikachu, Oshawott, Snivy, and Tepig deduce that Darkrai is the one behind all the madness and request that he stop. Darkrai makes an offer to the heroes that they join him, but they all decline. Seeing that his point of view is different from that of the heroes, Darkrai departs. Gothitelle tells the heroes that she'll return Victini and allow the to ring the Wish Bell. But first, they must clear the Power Bash attraction, where they have to hit other Pokémon and avoid bombs. The heroes succeed, and when they think they are going to have to battle with Gothitelle as they did with Cofagrigus and Chandelure, Gothitelle just unfolds the bridge and departs. When the bell is sounded, the Pokémon stop fighting each other and return home. Just then, Victini shows up to congratulate everyone, but Gothitelle shows up and holds Piplup, whom she has taken hostage. After Gothitelle departs again, the heroes (along with Victini) decide to return to PokéPark.
The group reports the incident to Emboar, who by now has gotten word of the investigation. He says that a messenger from Queen Serperior has spotted the Dark Vortex in the skies. When Pikachu and company glance up at the skies, they see it -- the Dark Vortex that Reshiram and Zekrom spoke of. The heroes know they must find a way to stop the phenomenon. Victini tells them that the poster portals were made at the Scientorium in the Tech Area. So the heroes make their way back to Cove Town and have Krookodile open the gate. But when they enter, they are stopped by Gurdurr, who says that his boss, Conkeldurr, has instructed him not to let in any outsiders. After the group takes Gurdurr down, he decides to let them pass. The heroes then bring up the Dark Vortex to Conkeldurr, but he says it doesn't concern him or anyone else in the Tech Area. After Conkeldurr is beaten in combat, the heroes explain the situation, but are cut off when Gurdurr rushes in with an urgent message. The iron bridge has been broken, and the Pokémon who traveled by train are unable to get home. The heroes offer to help Conkeldurr, who explains that they must go to his apprentice, Timburr, to gather the supplies needed to repair the bridge. They find Timburr at Seasong Beach, but he says he can't do it alone. The heroes then relay the incident to Samurott, who sends messengers to Serperior and Emboar. Moments later, the supplies arrive, and Timburr heads off to the Tech Area to repair the bridge. But as the group glances at the sky, they notice the Dark Vortex has increased in size.
When Pikachu, Oshawott, Snivy, and Tepig return to the Tech Area, and the iron bridge. Soon after, the train arrives and drops off the passengers. Conkeldurr thanks the heroes and says that the Scientorium is inside the Unawarehouse. Gurdurr tells that the warehouse entrance can be reached by hopping along the tops of the trains. However, the entrance is guarded by Golurk and his Golett posse. Once the heroes beat Golurk, he pushes a train towards the entrance and smashes the doors open. Inside, Solosis shows up and tries to get inside the heroes' minds, but fails. The heroes find the Scientorium through a passage on the second floor. Tepig manages to break down the set of bolted doors, but in so doing, a trio of gear Pokémon (Klink, Klang, and Klinklang) manage to get out. Duosion shows up, and when the heroes want to go into the Scientorium, he says the elevator won't work without Klink and company. The heroes manage to find the gear Pokémon, and they turn the elevator back online. In the underground Scientorium, they meet up with Reuniclus, the head scientist. He says that the poster portals are his most marvelous invention to date. But Oshawott brings up the information concerning Wish Park and the Dark Vortex. Reuniclus says that the Wish Bells regulate time, and if time stops, the warp in space grows, raising gravity to new levels. Snivy knows that somehow they need to get to Wish Park and stop the phenomenon. Reuniclus has a prototype portal in the bck, but he needs a Psytron Collider to fix it. When Tepig asks what it is, Reuniclus makes a joke about the fact that the vortex will have swallowed everything be time he finishes. The heroes go to the lab and retrieve the Psytron Collider, allowing Reuniclus to fix the portal. Pikachu, Oshawott, Snivy and Tepig call upon everyone they've befriended in the Tech Area, and succeed in opening the portal.
Entering the portal, the heroes find themselves in the fourth and final zone of Wish Park. They all notice that the Pokémon who have been to this area are floating several inches off the ground. When they reach the final Attraction Boss, Sigilyph, the glyph Pokémon is confident that his attraction, the Flight of Fancy, won't fail like the others have. After the heroes clear the attraction, Sigilyph becomes less confident. In an attempt to stop the heroes from reaching the last Wish Bell, he sets up Pokémon as a defense along a spiraling path leading to the top of a tower. Pikachu, Oshawott, Snivy and Tepig manage to fight their way past the defenses and reach Sigilyph at the top of the tower. Defeating Sigilyph unfolds the last bridge. The heroes rush over to the last Wish Bell and ring it. The sound brings the Pokémon back to the ground, and they start heading back.
Since all of the Attractions have been cleared, and all the Wish Bells rung, the Cake Zone, Dance Zone, Power Zone, and Flight Zone all start coming together. The zones all join at a small area with an insignia set into the floor -- this is the path to Wish Palace. The foursome head over and, despite a warning from Gothitelle, enter the portal. Heading towards the throne room of the dark ominous place, the foursome meet up with Piplup. But Piplup isn't acting like himself, and when Pikachu refuses to play in Wish Park, Piplup turns on him. Piplup is defeated fairly easily, and runs off in shame. At that moment, Darkrai and the Goth trio show up. Since Darkrai has come to the realization that it was friendship that got Pikachu and company this far, he erases the minds of Oshawott, Snivy, and Tepig. When Pikachu tries to talk to them, none of them recall that he was ever friends with them. Darkrai then casts Pikachu into a realm of depression. Pikachu finds himself in a dreary version of Cove Town, where he wanders alone and friendless.
As a tear from Pikachu's eye falls into a puddle, Piplup shows up. Pikachu is delighted to see his childhood friend once again, and as they celebrate, the world turns brighter. Piplup explains that he only wanted to go somewhere where he could be by himself, and he felt depressed after fighting against Pikachu. He said a voice spoke to him, and he was carried by Reshiram and Zekrom to where Pikachu was. Piplup believes that Pikachu can restore the memories of Oshawott, Snivy, and Tepig if he finds them in the same places they met before. Pikachu does so, and they all regain their memories after a chase or a battle. Reunited, the foursome venture to Wish Palace to face off against Darkrai in an epic showdown. When they all confront Darkrai, he is dismayed at how strong their friendship is and that he must now force them to yield. After being defeated once, Darkrai grows in size, tearing apart the walls of the palace. But the heroes manage to beat him nonetheless.
Just then, Gothita and Gothorita show up, trying to tell Darkrai about something strange happening in Wish Park. When the heroes and the Wish Park crew go to Wish Park, they behold a most disturbing sight: the Dark Vortex has grown so big that it now threatens to engulf both universes. Piplup shows up along with Reuniclus, who has brought along an amazing item: the Light Polaration, which can neutralize the gravity of the Dark Vortex and restore balance. In order to work properly, all four Wish Bells must be rung at the exact same moment, and once the Light Polaration resonates with the bells, it must be carried into the center of the vortex. Reuniclus says that the chances of coming out of the vortex are very slim. The foursome split up; Oshawott rings the Cake Zone bell, Snivy rings the Dance Zone bell, Tepig rings the Power Zone bell, and Pikachu rings the Flight Zone bell. Everyone times the ringing just right, sounding the four bells in sync. When Reuniclus activates the Light Polaration, everyone rushes back to him -- almost. Oshawott is still running back toward the center just as the buildings start coming apart. Snivy grabs Oshawott with her vine whips, and everyone else tries to pull him to safety. Oshawott sacrifices himself and lets go of the vines, sailing towards the vortex. A big chunk of debris comes tumbling down, sending Snivy and Tepig into the vortex as well. Pikachu tries desperately to hold onto Piplup's flipper, but the penguin also sacrifices himself and lets himself go. Pikachu realizes what he must do now and volunteers to use the Light Polaration. However, Darkrai, having come to his senses, summons the particle to his hand and heads up into the swirling void. There is a blinding flash of light -- and then silence.
As the bright light fades, Pikachu hears voices coming from above. He looks up to see Everyone who was swallowed up by the vortex floating down from the sky. All is well, because now Wish Park has been saved -- and so has PokéPark.
...Or has it?
After the credits, the gang discussess what to do next.As Piplup goes to explore Pokepark 2,the rest of the gang want to go explore Wish Park. There,Gothita and Gothorita tell them Darkrai hasn't got back from the Dark Vortex. The gang goes to Samurrott, the wisest pokemon in P.P.2,if he knows anything that they can help.He says to ask the other Univa starter area keepers. The royal highness,Queen Superion, says that Reshiram, whose shrine is in an other area she rules, but inexcessable right away,so they go to King Embore, who has the orb to acess Zeckroms dimension, though it is to tough to break,so they go to Reluniclus to see if he has a machine to break it.He says it needs lots of energy. So they ask Sammurrott if there is a powerful pokemon. Playable Characters (Story Mode)
Another thing that sets PokéPark 2 away from the previous game is that there are four playable Pokémon as compared to just Pikachu. They are listed below:
- Pikachu: Pikachu's moves are Thunderbolt, Iron Tail, and Quick Attack. Pikachu can use his Thunderbolt to shock blocks with a lightning symbol, removing it from its way in the dungeons. He can also carry small Pokémon and items.
- Snivy: Snivy's known moves are Leaf Tornado and Leaf Storm which can be used to increase the height of her jumps and access normally unreachable places and to battle.
- Tepig: Tepig's known attacks are Flamethrower, Heat Crash, and Flame Charge which can be used to battle, smash small rocks and destroy large boulders that act as unbreakable obstacles for the other Pokémon.
- Oshawott: Oshawott's known attacks are Razor Shell and Water Gun which seems to only help the player in battle. However, Oshawott has the ability to swim in large bodies of water that the other Pokémon cannot cross.
Each of the four playable characters can be trained to upgrade their moves -- for a certain number of berries. They are trained by their specific type and evolved forms:
- Raichu: Raichu can train Pikachu as his apprentice after Pikachu defeats him in battle. He can upgrade Pikachu's Thunderbolt, Iron Tail, and Dash Combo up to Level 3.
- Servine: Servine can train Snivy as her apprentice after Snivy defeats her in battle. She can upgrade Snivy's Leaf Tornado, Leaf Storm, and Dash Combo up to Level 3.
- Pignite: Pignite can train Tepig as his apprentice after Tepig defeats him in battle. He can upgrade Tepig's Flamethrower, Heat Crash, and Dash Combo up to Level 3.
- Dewott: Dewott can train Oshawott as his apprentice after Oshawott defeats him in battle. He can upgrade Oshawott's Razor Shell, Water Gun, and Dash Combo up to Level 3.
- Blitzle: Blitzle can train any of the playable characters to run like the winds. This will prove very useful when you're playing a game of Chase.
- Audino: Audino can help increase your maximum Hit Points up to Level 3. This will prove very useful when you're engaging other Pokémon in battle.
Other Notable Pokémon
There are certain Pokémon you can interact with during and after the main storyline.
- Meowth: Look for Meowth in each of the different areas. He'll be more than willing to trade if you grant him something in return.
- Misdreavus: Misdreavus runs a Photo Studio in Cove Town. When you meet up with her for the first time, she'll show you how to take photos. However, there is a limit on the number of photos you can save in-game. Any more than 72 you'll have to save on an SD card.
- Delibird: Delibird dropped his snowball while making a delivery. If you find it and return it to him, he'll grant you random presents from that point onward.
- Kecleon: This stealthy chameleon Pokémon has been following and observing the you and your pals throughout the game. When you discover Kecleon for the very first time, he'll show you his Book of Records. All the Achievements and Awards you've gotten to date are in this book.
- Drifblim: After saving Drifblim and her pals from Wish Park, she'll be able to give you a lift to any place you've already been.
- Reuniclus: The head scientist at the Scientorium and the inventor of the poster portals.
Similar to the previous game, PokéPark 2 also has attractions located in Wish Park. However, unlike its predecessor, when you play the Attractions for the first time, only Pikachu, Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott are playable. You can also play with three other friends in a special function on the menu. The game only has four attractions: the Cake Contraption, Dance Inferno, Power Bash and the Flight of Fancy.
Certain areas have a "Keeper", a guide who can help the players out with their investigation. You can seek their advice.
- Samurott: The wise and noble Samurott is the Keeper of the Cove Area. This warrior is very dependable and believes that teamwork will help solve the case faster.
- Serperior: Queen Serperior is the Keeper of the Arbor Area. She hopes that one day, Snivy will become queen. But Snivy's uncouth manners never seem to improve...
- Emboar: As powerful as he is kind, Emboar is the Keeper of the Crag Area. He's the one who runs the Battle Tournament in which some of the strongest of Pokémon gather to battle it out.
- Conkeldurr: Conkeldurr is in charge of the Tech Area. You'll need to earn his favor before you can befriend any Pokémon around here.
