Pidgey (ポッポ Poppo) is a small bird Pokémon and can be found almost anywhere in the Kanto region. It is very common in forests and woods. Peaceable by nature, it is also one of the gentlest and easiest birds to capture. When on the ground, Pidgey flaps its wings to kick up sand and dust that blinds its opponents. It has an excellent sense of direction. Its natural food is small bugs. It evolves into Pidgeotto at Level 18. All Pidgey are voiced by Megumi Hayashibara in both Japanese and English.

Appearance

It is a small bird pokemon. With brown feathers on the back, and tan feathers on its front. It has a black marking under each eye.

Special Abilities

Pidgey can kick up sand and whirlwinds, so that it can avoid battles.

In Anime

There have been many pidgeys that appear in the Anime. Ash tried to catch one, put since Pikachu wasn't listening to him at the time, he tried to battle it himself, which ended up badly. Pidgey had an episode all to itself in Fly Me to the Moon, Where Ash and friends find an island of fat pidgey that didn't fly. It's been shown that Casey owns a pidgey in The Double Trouble Header. Profesor Oak is seen owning a pidgey in Will the Real Oak Please Stand up. And there has been many pidgeys on the side.

In Game

In Red/blue/yellow they are found almost everywhere In Gold and Silver, it is found on routes 1, 2, 5, 6, 25, 29, 30, 31, 32, 35, 36, 37, and national park(during the day) In Crystal, it is found on routes 1, 2, 5, 25, 29, 30, 31, 32, 34, 35, 36, 37, Ilex forest(during the night,) and national park. In order to get on in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/Colosseum/XD, it must be traded from FireRed or LeafGreen. In FireRed/LeafGreen, it is found on routes 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 15, 25, Viridian Forest, Bond Bridge, Berry Bush, and Five Isle Medow. In Diamond/Pearl it can be found in swarms after getting the national pokedex on route 229. In Platinum it can be found on route 229.
