Paul's Magmortar is Paul's only known Fire type Pokemon since he released Chimchar, although Paul has implied that he has other Fire types.
Biography
Magmortar was first seen while it was a Magmar. It battled Maylene's Lucario in a flashback and won without too much effort. Magmar was later used in Paul's battle with Brandon, fighting against Registeel and Regirock but was defeated by Regirock's Shock Wave.
Magmar evolved after fighting Brandon and as a Magmortar it learned Rock Tomb and revealed that it could use Smog (whether it learned this move before or after it evolved is unknown). Magmortar was used in Paul's battle against Ash at Lake Valor, holding its own against Buizel despite type disadvantage and burning Pikachu using its Flame Body ability.
Magmortar was also used against Barry in the Sinnoh League where it easily defeated Barry's Skarmory with a single powerful Flamethrower. It briefly faced off against Empoleon where it was shown to be strong enough to endure the most powerful Water type move Hydro Cannon, but was recalled after being struck by the attack.
