Palmer used Rhyperior against Ash's Grotle. Due to its Solid Rock ability it was able to easily endure Grotles Energy Ball and quickly gained the advantage by increasing its speed with Rock Polish and trapping Grotle in a Sandstorm. However when it used Megahorn whilst Grotle was preparing an Energy Ball, it accidentally caused Grotle to swallow its own attack, giving the Grove Pokémon a power boost. Despite this Rhyperior still managed to defeat Grotle using its signature move, Rock Wrecker.
