==Plot==
Cerulean City is where all the action is: Misty's sister Daisy is back, Butch and Cassidy are coming to steal a Delcatty, and both Tracey and Casey, the baseball-loving Trainer from Johto, are visiting the Cerulean Gym. They're there when a Pelipper delivers a letter to Misty, asking her to meet someone named Georgio by the lighthouse. While Tracey is stuck with cleaning-pool duty, Misty and Casey go to meet the mysterious Georgio. He turns out to be a young Trainer who wants to ask Misty on a date! He even has two great tickets to tonight's Electabuzz vs. Starmies game, the one Casey wants to see.

Ritchie and Sparky are in the big city where the nearest Pokémon Center is scheduled for demolition. Two Nurse Joys—a grandmother and granddaughter—are trying to stop the demolition crew, so Ritchie and his Pokémon step in to drive off the crew's Pokémon. The Nurse Joys tell him that this Pokémon Center opened 75 years ago, back when the area was a rural place where Celebi lived. That was the same day the elder Nurse Joy's friend, Nick, was lost in a landslide. That night, a Celebi appears before Ritchie and shows him a Celebi carving hidden in the Pokémon Center's furniture. Then Ritchie is surrounded by light, and the next thing he knows, he's in the middle of a forest!

Misty says no, but Georgio offers to battle her--if he wins, Misty will go to the ballgame with him, and if not, she'll never have to see him again. Misty agrees, but when Georgio sends out his Delcatty, Butch and Cassidy grab it! They were hiding at the top of the lighthouse and now they make their escape on hand-gliders. Georgio orders his Pelipper to stop them and Butch and Cassidy crash a short distance away. Misty and the others come running, but Butch and Cassidy send out their Mightyena and Sableye. Misty and Casey battle them with Misty's Corsola and Casey's Meganium; Meganium's SolarBeam blasts the Team Rocket villains into the sky and Delcatty is safe.
+
Ritchie hears a cry for help and he rescues a young Joy from falling off a cliff. Joy leads him to the local Celebi shrine where he's introduced to her friend Nick. Ritchie is in the past—and it's the day before the Pokémon Center first opened! Nick invites Ritchie to stay with him and his father for the night. They're traveling carpenters and they'll leave tomorrow now that their work on the Center is complete. Nick is carving a Celebi statue for Joy, but he won't stay for the Center opening and her birthday party, even after Ritchie tries to convince him to go.

Now Misty and Georgio's battle can begin again. Delcatty may look prim, but its Double Team and Ice Beam moves are enough to knock Corsola out. However, Corsola uses Recover to come back, then knocks Delcatty out! Georgio has lost, but Casey begs for one of his tickets. He agrees to give her a ticket if she defeats him in a battle, so it's his Delcatty against her Elekid. Alas, Delcatty's Iron Tail is a one-hit KO for Elekid, but Georgio gives her his second ticket anyway. That evening, Casey and Georgio head for the stadium and Misty reflects on yet another day in the life of a Gym Leader!
+
That night, in the middle of a storm, Joy goes missing and everyone in town is looking for her. Nick thinks she's lost in the forest, so he and Ritchie go to look for her. They find Joy unconscious, knocked out by a falling tree on her way to check the Celebi shrine. Lightning threatens to set fire to the shrine and Nick is almost hit by lightning himself as he tries to stop the flames. But Celebi appears to protect him and Joy is so touched, she decides to become a nurse and stay at the Pokémon Center.

==Trivia==
+
The next day, Nick doesn't show up at the party, so Ritchie takes Joy's Ponyta and rides off to find him. Nick and his father are on a cart headed out of town, but Ritchie forces them to stop. He tells Nick to be brave and give the Celebi carving to Joy, so Nick and his father turn around just in time to avoid a deadly landslide. As Nick gives Joy his gift and admits his feelings for her—feelings that are mutual—Celebi whisks Ritchie back to the present. Now, the Pokémon Center is being restored, not demolished, and Nick is the town mayor. The concrete jungle has been replaced with a pleasant, tree-filled town, and Celebi even makes a special appearance before the townspeople.

* This is the last episode where Misty is seen in her original outfit.

* The ending is different in original and dub versions. In the dub, Misty says that she has "found her calling". In the original, she thinks about going to Hoenn and meeting Ash there.
