This Articuno is an ice/-type Pokémon, who is close friends with Factory Head Noland.
Biography
Ruby and Sapphire series
Noland met Articuno when he was flying his plane. Nolan, upon seeing that it had been injured, helped Articuno land safely. After that, Articuno frequently visited him.
As the heroes went to the Battle Factory, they found Articuno, followed by an airplane. Moments later, they discovered Articuno at the Battle Factory, for Noland was taking care of it. When Team Rocket attempted to steal Ash's Pokémon, Articuno was used to defeat Team Rocket: it bashed their balloon away and used Ice Beam to blast them off. Ash was pleased by its power and chose Articuno to battle against in the Battle Factory, so he Liza in the Characific Valley and asked her to send over his Charizard just for that battle.[1] The next day, Charizard faced Articuno.
