Night Shade is a Ghost-type move that was introduced in Generation I. This move inflicts damage to the player's opponent equal to the player's Pokémon level regardless of the level of the Pokémon or the stats. Until Generation II, Night Shade was the Signature Move of Gastly and its evolutions.
