+ | ===Behavior=== |
||
− | == Special abilities == |
||
+ | Nidorino are extremely aggressive Pokémon that are quick to Anger like [[Mankey]]. One he detects an enemy, all his spikes will bristle up at once and will go all out to challenge the foe(which may explain its other abilities).These Pokémon generally spend the day scouting and searching for food, returning to their burrows only at night to rest. They bring back resources to share with the rest of their families. However, even the slightest noise will awaken sleeping Nidorino, thanks to their highly sensitive ears. They will not hesitate to locate the source of a foreign sound and attack it with their horns, especially if the threat appears to be endangering their young. |
||
− | The entire Nido family are known for their venomous spines. Nidorino's are no exception. They are more potent than his previous evolution. |

+ | ===Origin=== |
||
+ | Nidorano is mostly based on small mammalian animals, mainly mice, rabbits, or porcupines. It may also be based on some venomous mammals, mainly the insectivore types. |
||
+ | |||
+ | ===Etymology=== |
||
+ | Nidorano may come from ''cnidocyte'' (a type of cell responsible for the venom in stinging animals), ''rhino'', and the ''-o'' suffix, which is usually used at the end of male-denoting names in some languages. It may also derive from ''needle''. |

Nidorino (Japanese: ニドリーノ, Hepburn: Nidoriino) (NEE-doe-REE-no[1]) is a Poison-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. He is the male counterpart of Nidorina.
Biology
Physiology
Nidorino is a rabbit-like Pokémon, just like his previous evolution, though he acquires a more rugged look. Sharp teeth protrude from his upper jaw and his spikes have grown larger. He is a red-purple color with slightly darker spots. He has very large ears.
Behavior
Nidorino are extremely aggressive Pokémon that are quick to Anger like Mankey.
Natural abilities
The entire Nido family are known for their venomous spines. Nidorino's are no exception. His poison is more potent than his previous evolution, and the horn it is secreted from (which explains its Poison Point ability ) is harder than a diamond. His ears are used to checks its surroundings.
Evolution
Nidorino evolves into Nidoking, by use of a Moon Stone. Nidorino is the evolved form of Nidoran♂ as of level 16.

Appearances
Anime
- Nidorino first appeared in Pokémon - I Choose You!, he appeared on Ash's TV battling against another trainer's Gengar. This battle mirrored the opening sequence for Red and Blue.
- In the episode Where Art Through, Little Pokémon?, a young boy named Ralph had a Nidoran♂ that evolved into a Nidorino after kissing a Nidoran♀.
Trivia
- Nidorino's shiny color is the same color as Nidorina's normal colours. The inverse is also true.
- There is also an old Capsule Monsters artwork featuring a less polished version of the two, though he appears to also have traits of Gyarados and Feraligatr.
- In Generation I, when Nidorino appeared in Professor Oak's intro, his female counterpart's cry is heard.
- It shares its category with the rest of its line as well as the Poipole line.
Origin
Nidorano is mostly based on small mammalian animals, mainly mice, rabbits, or porcupines. It may also be based on some venomous mammals, mainly the insectivore types.
Etymology
Nidorano may come from cnidocyte (a type of cell responsible for the venom in stinging animals), rhino, and the -o suffix, which is usually used at the end of male-denoting names in some languages. It may also derive from needle.
