Nayuta is a small boy that Ash met in a forest near Twinleaf Town. Like Ash did at his age, Nayuta dreams of becoming a Pokémon Trainer and he spends his time watching wild Pokémon. Ash's Pikachu seemed to like Nayuta right away and gave it a hug.

While Ash and Nayuta were talking, a wild Heracross appeared. Ash told to him that he caught his own Heracross earlier in his journey. And he was so pumped. His first appearence is Strategy Begins At Home / Hikari VS Mama! Showdown Between Parent and Child!!.
