This Gengar is a ghost/poison-type Pokémon owned by Morty.
Biography
Gengar was usually seen outside its Poké Ball. It liked to play tricks on people but was loyal to its trainer. Gengar was used to defeat Team Rocket when they tried to steal Ash's Pikachu.
Morty later used Gengar during his Gym battle with Ash. Gengar battled Ash's Noctowl and displayed the ability to attack even while it was invisible. While Noctowl desperately avoided Gengar's Night Shade attacks, Ash came up with an idea and ordered Noctowl to send its newly learned Confusion through the whole gym. Noctowl then used Foresight to make Gengar solid. Gengar tried to counter with Shadow Ball but Noctowl was too fast and slammed into the Ghost Pokémon with a Tackle attack, defeating Gengar.
Gengar was also seen when it helped to find the crystal bells that Team Rocket had stolen.
