Mewtwo is a Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon who appears in MS016: Pokémon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened.

It has a similar background to the Mewtwo that appeared in Mewtwo Strikes Back, but is a distinct, separate individual.

Personality[]

Though it shares some aspects of its personality with the previous Mewtwo seen in the anime, this Mewtwo differs in a number of key ways. It is far less harsh in its hatred of humans, instead merely distrusting them and wishing to be left alone by them. It also merely asks Virgil, Anna and Oscar to forget they met it. This Mewtwo is able to sympathize and identify with others, as when it meets the Genesect Army, it insists that they go with it to a place where unnatural Pokémon should exist.

Biography[]

Mewtwo first appeared in Mewtwo — Prologue to Awakening, in which it was revealed to have escaped from its creators and had started roaming the world looking for a home.

In MS016, Mewtwo encountered the Genesect Army and fought them in New Tork City.

Trivia[]

  • While it was initially believed this Mewtwo was the same one from the anime, Hideki Sonoda confirmed on his Twitter account that the two are separate individuals. This was further reinforced by the fact that this Mewtwo's voice is feminine.
    • However, contradictory statements have been made by other writers regarding whether or not there is more than one Mewtwo; when asked for clarification, a representative from the Pokémon Company responded that "the Pokémon creators" have intended for questions unanswered by the video games, films, and anime to "be left to the imagination and interpretations of Pokémon fans."[1]
  • It can Mega Evolve into Mega Mewtwo Y.
  • This Mewtwo is more like a younger version of a child or teen version than an adult.
