The Metronome (メトロノーム, Metronome) is a held in-battle effect item that was introduced in Generation IV. It gradually boosts a move's attack if it is used repeatedly but resets when a different move is used. It can be bought at the Veilstone and the Goldenrod Game Corners in Sinnoh and Johto respectively in Generation IV, not to mention being held by some wild Kricketot and Kricketunes.
