Marlon is the final Gym Leader of Unova, who specializes in using Water-type Pokémon. He debuts in Pokémon Black and White Versions 2.

In the anime

Marlon makes a short cameo appearance in the the opening of Pokémon: Best Wishes 2, along with Caitlin, Cynthia, Alder, and Drayden.

He made his debut in BW096battling Cameron 's Samurott with his Mantine. He appears to be in his late teens or early twenties.

Trivia

• Marlon's name possibly originates from the Spanish word for sea, "mar" and the fish Template:WP. Marlon's Japanese name, Shizui, slightly has the word Mizu which means water in Japanese, a reference to his type preference.
• Marlon's ethnicity is ambiguous due to the differentiation in the upper and lower halves of his body. It could be reasoned that these are tan lines as Marlon is said to spend a lot of time in the water. This would leave his dark upper body constantly exposed to the sun and tanned, while his lighter lower body would presumably almost always be covered in the water.
