- Marlon's name possibly originates from the Spanish word for sea, "mar" and the fish marlin. Marlon's Japanese name, Shizui, slightly has the word Mizu which means water in Japanese, a reference to his type preference.

It could be reasoned that these are tan lines as Marlon is said to spend a lot of time in the water.
