Lt. Surge's Raichu is Surge's only known Pokemon in the anime. Like Surge, Raichu was arrogant and very sure of its own strength, considering itself to be superior to Ash's Pikachu simply because it was its evolved form. During their first battle, Raichu creamed Pikachu effortlessly. However during their second battle, Raichu was overwhelmed by Pikachu's superior speed; because it had evolved so quickly it never learned Quick Attack or Agility, which were two of the moves Pikachu used to dodge and attack Raichu. After its defeat, Raichu grew to respect Pikachu.
