Like Surge, Raichu was arrogant and very sure of its own strength, considering it to be Ash's Pikachu superior rival simply because it was its evolved form. During their first battle, Raichu creamed Pikachu effortlessly. However during their second battle, Raichu was overwhelmed by Pikachu's superior speed; because it had evolved so quickly it never learned Quick Attack or Agility, which were two of the moves Pikachu used to dodge and attack Raichu. After its defeat, Raichu grew to respect Pikachu.

Red, Green & Blue arc
In Pokémon Adventures, Lt. Surge's Raichu appeared in the Silph Co.'s tower with Lt. Surge, where they wanted to defeat Red.
Crystal arc
Lt. Surge's Raichu found a secret base beneath a lodge. Lt. Surge encountered the Masked Man and his Raichu intimidated Houndour, though Lt. Surge had to escape when Masked Man's Houndour called even more Houndour to attack them.
