The Mew Duo or also known as DNA Duo are the two legendary Pokémon Mewtwo and Mew. Mewtwo is the clone of Mew, one of the Mythical Pokémon. It is known that Mewtwo was given birth to by Mew by researchers after obtaining Mew's DNA. Mewtwo is created in a Pokémon Mansion on Cinnabar Island also known is that the Cinnabar Island Gym Leader Blaine also had something to do with the cloning of Mew. Unfortunately, Mewtwo was an angry Pokémon and it destroyed the Pokémon Mansion. After that Mewtwo travelled to the Cerulean Cave and is currently residing there.

Strange knowing is that Mewtwo is actually the clone of Mew, but Mewtwo comes first in the Pokédex. Mewtwo number in the National Pokédex is #150, that of Mew is #151. It can be because Mew is a mythical Pokémon and it is rarely seen by humans while Mewtwo has been created by humans through DNA. Also Mew wasn't legitimately available in the Generation 1 games although was mentioned in journals in the Pokémon mansion, and all references to the number of Pokémon in the region state there are 150 not 151, Mew's Pokedex number is 151. Mewtwo later gains two Mega Evolutions in Pokémon X and Y - Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y. Mewtwo also has an anime/manga exclusive alternate form called Armored Mewtwo, and a manga exclusive form where he takes on the DNA of a Clefairy.

Generation VI introduces Mega Pokémon, a new type of evolution. The Genetic Pokémon Mewtwo is able to Mega Evolve into two different Mega Pokémon depending on the version of the game. He can turn into Mega Mewtwo X using a Mewtwonite X- which is available in X version, and Mega Mewtwo Y using a Mewtwonite Y - which is available in Y version. Mega Mewtwo X is a dual Psychic/Fighting-type while Mega Mewtwo Y retains Mewtwo's pure Psychic nature. The ability and stats of Mega Mewtwo also differs between versions.
After the creation of Mewtwo, his creators state that they should get started on Mewthree, Mewthree also has a brief appearance in the Pocket Monsters manga.

The Legendary Beasts trio contains Raikou an Electric-type Thunder Pokémon, Entei a Fire-type Volcano Pokémon and Suicune a Water-type Aurora Pokémon. Raikou, Entei and Suicune originally died because of lightning struck the Brass Tower. It is known that they were located in the Brass Tower and that it burned to the ground with them trapped inside. Luckily, all three were revived by Ho-Oh and the three are roaming around Johto, it is unknown if the three were originally a Raikou, an Entei and a Suicune or if Ho-Oh changed them into a Raikou, an Entei and a Suicune from something else when it revived them.

In Pokémon Gold and Silver, the trio are wandering around Johto after that they are being discovered in the Brass Tower. In Pokémon Crystal only Raikou and Entei were roaming around Johto after that the trio are being discovered in the Brass Tower. Only Suicune that is also the mascot of the Pokémon Crystal Version will be able to face the player at the Tin Tower after that Team Rocket has been disbanded in the Radio Tower after controlling it to get in contact with their former leader Giovanni. You can only face Suicune after obtaining the Clear Bell from the director after defeating Team Rocket. In Pokémon Colosseum, they were captured by Cipher and they got turned into Shadow Pokémon. In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen one of the trio will be roam around the Kanto region after defeating the Pokémon League which depends on the Starter Pokémon that has been chosen by the player. If the starter Pokémon is Squirtle then it would be Raikou, if the starter Pokémon is Bulbasaur then it would be Entei, if the starter would be Charmander then it would be Suicune. In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver the meeting contains almost the same as in Pokémon Crystal. Raikou and Entei are still roaming around Johto but the player can face Suicune after defeating the Pokémon League and following him in the Kanto region until Route 25 outside Bill's house. In the game and in the anime Eusine is constantly chasing Suicune, but Suicune manages to escape from him constantly.

Celebi has been referred to as "new Mew" although, Celebi and Mew have no relationship with each other. Although mythical, Celebi is a legendary Pokémon which mainly resides at the Ilex Forest west of Azalea Town. This Pokémon is more an event Pokémon, which it can only be obtained through events. Celebi was around the time of the release of the Generation II video games called as the most rarest Pokémon due to the fact that it was only available for one event which was in Japan exclusive for Pokémon Crystal. Now known, Celebi acts more as a chain to unlock other events in different video games. In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver after obtaining a Celebi through an event, it will let the player travel through time to show the past between Silver and Giovanni which contains the actual hate of Silver against Team Rocket and his though attitude. In Pokémon Black and White it can let you obtain Zorua if you transfer Celebi from HeartGold and SoulSilver through Pokémon Black and Pokémon White. Furthermore, it is also known to be the mysterious Pokémon hidden in the mysterious GS Ball. Celebi also makes an appearance in Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. An shiny Celebi makes an appearance in Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness as a temporary part of the team during the storyline.

The Weather Trio, also known as the Ancient Trio consists of Kyogre a Water-type Sea Basin Pokémon, Groudon a Ground-type Continent Pokémon and Rayquaza a Dragon/Flying dual-type Sky High Pokémon. According to the myths of the three legendary Pokémon it is said that Kyogre have the power to bring forth the rain and therefore expand the sea, Groudon is said to ward off rain and expand land by evaporating the water with light and heat. It is said that Rayquaza is the protector of the skies and is seen living mostly in the atmosphere. Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza are also mascots of Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire and Emerald. Kyogre is the mascot of the Pokémon Sapphire Version, Groudon that of Pokémon Ruby Version and Rayquaza that of Pokémon Emerald Version. Groudon doesn't appear in Pokémon Sapphire and Kyogre doesn't appear in Pokémon Ruby. Groudon can be captured at Cave of Origin in Pokémon Ruby Version only and Kyogre also at the Cave of Origin but in Pokémon Sapphire only. Rayquaza can be captured at Sky Pillar in both versions. In Pokémon Emerald Version their capturing schedule has been changed knowing that they are only obtainable after defeating the Pokémon League. Groudon can be found at the Terra Cave and Kyogre can be found at the Marine Cave. They do re-appear in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver which the player can gain a Blue Orb in Pokémon HeartGold Version and a Red Orb in Pokémon SoulSilver Version, there is also a third orb called the Jade Orb which can be obtained both in the video games. Bring one of the two orbs to the Embedded Tower to encounter one of the three Pokémon. During Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald Team Aqua were after Kyogre and Team Magma were after Groudon to use them for their own means.
Deoxys is one of the two Pokémon Illusion of the Hoenn region. Because of its molecular structure, Deoxys can change forms. The Tao Trio also known as the Energy Trio consists of Reshiram a Dragon/Fire dual-type Vast White Pokémon, Zekrom a Dragon/Electric dual-type Deep Black Pokémon and Kyurem a Boundary Pokémon. Each of the dragon trio symbolizes a specific energy and controls a specific type. Reshiram symbolizes Yang and controls the element fire, Zekrom symbolizes Yin and controls electricity and Kyurem symbolizes Wuji and controls ice. It is known that Kyurem has two alternate forms that has been introduced in Pokémon Black and White Version 2 known as Black Kyurem and White Kyurem. Black Kyurem is obtained by fusing Zekrom's genes with Kyurem that is only in the Pokémon Black 2 video game and White Kyurem is obtained by fusing Reshiram's genes with Kyurem that is only in Pokémon White 2. Kyurem can only change into those forms when the player has acquired the DNA Splicers. It is unknown if the transformation is painful for the dragons. In storyline they were originally one Pokémon that split into two when its twin owners argued over truth and ideals, Kyurem was left as a by-product.

Anime Appearances
In the anime, Zekrom first appeared in In The Shadow of Zekrom! shooting a powerful lightning bolt at Pikachu, causing Pikachu to lose its ability to use electric attacks.

Reshiram and Zekrom later both appeared in MS014: Pokémon The Movie: Black - Victini & Reshiram / Pokémon The Movie: White - Victini & Zekrom. Zekrom served the Hero of the Ideals and sided with Damon in Black, while Reshiram served the Hero of Truths and sided with Damon in White.

In Black/White 2 it is revealed that Reshiram and Zekrom were both a single Pokemon that followed twin heroes in bringing an ancient, conflicted Unova into peace. The twins however eventually ended having opposite perspectives, one believing in ideals and one in truth. The Pokemon then split giving birth to Reshiram and Zekrom, while Kyurem was a left by-product.

Kyurem is the title character in Kyurem VS The Sword of justice. Keldeo arrogantly challenged him, only to lose horribly against the powerful Legendary. Terrakion attacks Kyurem with Hyper Beam in an attempt to stop him, but Kyurem freezes all 3 Swords of Justice with Ice Burn. Keldeo ran away in horror, but Kyurem knew that the battle was not over. After relentlessly pursuing Keldeo, who was now traveling with Ash and co. Keldeo re-challenges Kyurem. Although it was much more formindablr and also turned into his resolute form, Keldeo still lost after a Secret Sword-Freeze Shock collision, and admitted defeat. Kyurem respected Keldeo for saving it's friends, and complemented his sword, before leaving.

Victini
Victini is the Pokémon that is supposed to bring victory to any Trainer that owns it, no matter their skill level. It was available through several events, the latest of which, ended June 26, 2012. Currently, the only ways to get it are to either have previously obtained one, through trading with someone who owns one or through the use of a cheat device or hacking. The events for Japan in 2010, Australia, Europe and America 2011 would give you the Liberty Pass which enables travelling to Liberty Garden while all the other will allow you to receive Victini directly through Wi-Fi. Victini was originally designed for Generation IV but was held back. Victini is the only legitimate Pokémon with the Pokedex number of #000 (Unova Pokedex number not national number).

The reason why Xeneas and Yveltal are sometimes considered as the Mortality Duo is due to the reason that they represent the letters of the two gender chromosomes, X and Y. It can also be inferred that Xerneas is female, as females have the XX chromosome set; and that Yveltal is male, as males have the XY chromosome set however this has not been confirmed; Zygarde may be genderless like most other Legendary Pokemon. The theme between the duo of Xerneas and Yveltal is enternal life and destruction. Given Zygarde's role as protector of the enviroment, he may be a representation of the middle ground between Xerneas and Yveltal , which is the state of the environment that decides how long others can live. and at one date you could get a Giratina

'Legendary Pokémon' (Japanese: 伝説のポケモン, HepburnDensetsu no Pokemontrans. literally meaning; "Pokémon of Legends") are extremely rare and mostly powerful Pokémon which they are also called to be as 'Pokémon Illusions' (Japanese: 幻のポケモン, HepburnMaboroshi no Pokemontrans. literally meaning; "Phantom Pokémon"). Legendary Pokémon are unique in each and every region in the Pokémon series and also beloved by criminal organizations such as Team Rocket which they believe that with their power they can control the world. Legendary Pokémon can also be seen as mythical Pokémon, such as the Sinnoh Legendaries that shaped the world. In the Pokémon anime it can be assumed that there are more than one legendary Pokémon. Legendary Pokémon are extremely hard to capture but they can be easily defeated in the video games. Each and every Legendary Pokémon in the series are extremely hard to capture, only if you don't count the Master Balls.

The First Generation

The first generation legendary Pokémon (Japanese: 伝説のポケモンの第一世代, HepburnDensetsu no Pokemon no Dai Ichi-sedai) are the first legendary Pokémon introduced in the Pokémon series. These Pokémon originates and often appears in the Kanto region instead in various different regions. There are 5 original legendary Pokémon that are coming from the 151 Pokémon that were introduced.

The last one is Moltres, a Fire-type Flame Pokémon and one of the three bird Pokémon that is considered as the most legendary. Moltres first appears in the video game series which the player can capture Moltres in the Victory Road in the very first Pokémon video games, Mt. Ember only in the LeafGreen and FireRed series and Mt. Silver only in the HeartGold and SoulSilver video game series. In the Pokémon Platinum series they are roaming around Sinnoh after defeating the Sinnoh Pokémon League, after you've talked to Professor Oak in Eterna City. In Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, the three legendary birds are captured by Cipher and they were turned into Shadow Pokémon. The three legendary birds were used by the Cipher Boss: Grand Master Greevil.

In the second Pokémon film, the three legendary birds reside in Shamoiti Island. It is known that if the three are disturbed and quarrel with each other only Lugia can stop the fight between the three bird Pokémon. They do also appear in the anime series.

The 'Mew Duo' (Japanese: ミュウデュオ, HepburnMyū Duo) or also known as 'DNA Duo' (Japanese: DNAのデュオ, HepburnDNA Duo) are the two legendary Pokémon Mewtwo and Mew.

These Pokémon originate from the region of Johto . There are 6 new kinds of legendary Pokémon out of 100 new discovered Pokémon in Generation II.

The Legendary Beasts

The 'Legendary Beasts' (Japanese: 伝説の獣, HepburnDensetsu no Kemono) trio contains Raikou an Electric-type Thunder Pokémon, Entei a Fire-type Volcano Pokémon and Suicune a Water-type Aurora Pokémon.

In the game Pokémon Gold and Silver, the trio are wandering around Johto after that they are being discovered in the Brass Tower.

Ho-Oh and Lugia are considered to be a legendary duo Pokémon in the Johto region. Ho-Oh is known as "the guardian of the skies" and Lugia is known as "the guardian of the seas". Ho-Oh was the first legendary Pokémon that has been appeared in the anime, it appeared in the very first episode of the Pokémon series, however at the time Ho-Oh had not been officially announced and wasn't identified in the episode.

The history of Ho-Oh and Lugia are similar, long time ago two towers were built in Ecruteak City, the Bell Tower and the Brass Tower. Ho-Oh resides in the Bell Tower while Lugia resides in the Brass Tower. Several years later, the Brass Tower was caught in a great fire causing Lugia to flee the tower to the Whirlpool Islands, however three Pokémon were trapped inside (the Legendary Beasts), Ho-Oh stayed to revive them. The sudden burn of the Brass Tower caused Ho-Oh also to flee away to search for a pure-hearted trainer. In the video game series, Ho-Oh is the main mascot of the Pokémon Gold series and Lugia is the main mascot of the Pokémon Silver series. However there is a change in both of the games if it goes about how to obtain them. In Pokémon Gold video game you can capture Ho-Oh after obtaining the Rainbow Wing after that you've disbanded Team Rocket from the Radio Tower, but in Pokémon Silver after defeating the Pokémon League you can obtain the Rainbow Wing from a citizen in Pewter City. In Pokémon Crystal you will obtain the Rainbow Wing after capturing all the three legendary Pokémon: Raikou, Entei and Suicune. In the Pokémon Silver video game you can capture Lugia after obtaining the Silver Wing after that you've disbanded Team Rocket from the Radio Tower, but in Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Crystal after beating the Pokémon League you can gain the Silver Wing from a citizen in Pewter City. You can obtain Ho-Oh in Pokémon Gold at the Bell Tower and Lugia at the Whirl Islands.

Ho-Oh and Lugia also reappear in the Pokémon LeafGreen and FireRed and Pokémon Emerald series but throughout an event. Ho-Oh and Lugia both are located at Naval Rock through the MysticTicket. Lugia plays a major role in the Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness video game series as Shadow Lugia, this Lugia could be purified, contrary to what many people thought at first. Ho-Oh can be obtained in Pokémon Colosseum for purifying all shadow Pokémon in the vide game. Ho-Oh and Lugia also re-appear in the Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver video game series, the plot of to face them has been remained the same but in order to obtain Lugia required a Silver Wing and also a Tidal Bell, in order to obtain Ho-Oh it requires a Clear Bell and Rainbow Wing. It is said that Ho-Oh will give a person eternal happiness if someone sees him.

Although the Tower Duo, Lugia and Ho-oh creating the three legendary Pokemon which is Lugia's three legendary birds and Ho-oh's three legendary beasts.

The Fifth Generation

The fifth generation legendary Pokémon (Japanese: 伝説のポケモンの第五世代, HepburnDensetsu no Pokemon no Dai Go-sedai) are the fifth legendary Pokémon introduced in the Pokémon series. These Pokémon originates and appear in the Unova region. There are originally 13 new kinds of legendary Pokémon introduced from the 156 new discovered Pokémon in Generation IV.

The Musketeers

The Musketeers consists of Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, and Keldeo. They are also known as the Swords of Justice. They fight to protect Pokémon that have lost their homes to humans. Keldeo has an alternate form, the Resolution Form. With the exception of Keldeo, each is Fighting-type with a secondary Type matching their names (example: Virizon is also a Grass-type.). This is the first Legendary Quartet.

The Kami Trio

The Kami consists of Tornadus, Thundurus and Landorus. Tornadus represents tornados, Thundurus represents Thunder, and Landorus represents Land. Tornadus is the only Pokémon that is a pure Flying type. They are the trio where each member and trio master has an alternate form, acquired by the use of the Reflecting Mirror, they are all pure male, marking the first time a trio all have genders (other than genderless) and share the same gender.

The Tao Trio

The 'Tao Trio' (Japanese: タオトリオ, HepburnTao Torio) also known as the 'Energy Trio' (Japanese: エネルギートリオ, HepburnEnerugī Torio) consists of Reshiram a Dragon/Fire dual-type Vast White Pokémon, Zekrom a Dragon/Electric dual-type Deep Black Pokémon and Kyurem a Boundary Pokémon.

The Sixth Generation

The sixth generation legendary Pokémon (Japanese: 伝説のポケモンの第六世代, HepburnDensetsu no Pokemon no Dai Roku-sedai) are the sixth generation legendary Pokémon introduced in the Pokémon series. These Pokémon originates and are most likely appearing the Kalos region. Five legendary Pokémon are known, the Yggdrasil Trio, and Mega Mewtwo.

Mortality Trio

The members of the Yggdrasil Trio consist of Xerneas, a Fairy-type Pokemon, Yveltal, a Dark/Flying-type Pokémon, and Zygarde, a Dragon/Ground Pokemon. While Yveltal and Zygarde are dual type Pokemon, Xerneas is the only member of the Yggdrasil Trio that is not.

Two of the legendary Pokémon are also the main mascots of the video games Pokémon X and Y which Xerneas represents Pokémon X and Yveltal represents Pokémon Y. There may be a Pokémon Z in the works (or Pokémon X2 and Y2, which would follow the example set by Pokemon Black2 and White2), given the third member of a legendary trio is always featured as a star Pokémon. In either Pokemon X or YTeam Flare would try using the dormant form of Xerneas or Yveltal to power the Ultimate Weapon; it remains to be seen if they will try something similar with Zygarde in a sequel.

Given Zygarde's role as protector of the enviroment, he may be a representation of the middle ground between Xerneas and Yveltal , which is the state of the environment that decides how long others can live. and at one date you could get a Giratina.

Not to be confused with Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon.

Several Pokémon are often disputed as to whether or not they are Legendary and are often mistaken as true Legendaries by fans.

List

 • Deoxys Copy - though they are copies created by a Legendary, they are very weak and cannot fight alone. They are also anime only so
 • Phione - Phione is bred from the Mythical Manaphy and a Ditto but it has been disputed if it is legendary/mythical or not, official sources have differed on the matter.
 • Rotom - Rotom is often thought of as Legendary because there is only one in the game. It is also labelled as a Legendary in the DP Pokedex Book, although the same book has several other errors (numbering in the double digits) both major and minor.
 • Arcanine - Arcanine is commonly misconstructed as a Legendary Pokemon, mainly because of an episode (named Pokemon Emergency!, and known to be the second episode of the show) which showed Arcanine as one of the four legendary Pokémon on the tablet at the Viridian City Pokémon Center. Despite not actually being a legendary Pokémon, this reflects its species description as the "Legendary" Pokémon, and creates a common misconception.
