Terrakion attacks Kyurem with Hyper Beam in an attempt to stop him, but Kyurem freezes all 3 Swords of Justice with Ice Burn. Keldeo ran away in horror, but Kyurem knew that the battle was not over. After relentlessly pursuing Keldeo, who was now traveling with Ash and co. Keldeo re-challenges Kyurem. Although it was much more formindablr and also turned into his resolute form, Keldeo still lost after a Secret Sword-Freeze Shock collision, and admitted defeat. Kyurem respected Keldeo for saving it's friends, and complemented his sword, before leaving.
The MusketeersCobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, and Keldeo. They are also known as the Swords of Justice. They fight to protect Pokémon that have lost their homes to humans. Keldeo has an alternate form, the Resolution Form. With the exception of Keldeo, each is Fighting-type with a secondary Type matching their names (example: Virizon is also a Grass-type.). This is the first Legendary Quartet.
The Kami TrioTornadus, Thundurus and Landorus. Tornadus represents tornados, Thundurus represents Thunder, and Landorus represents Land. Tornadus is the only Pokémon that is a pure Flying type. They are the trio where each member and trio master has an alternate form, acquired by the use of the Reflecting Mirror, they are all pure male, marking the first time a trio all have genders (other than genderless) and share the same gender.
The trio appear in a two part episode where Team Rocket tries, but fails to capture them thanks to Ash and his friends. They are set appear again but in their Therian Formes.
Victini is the Pokémon that is supposed to bring victory to any Trainer that owns it, no matter their skill level. It was available through several events, the latest of which, ended June 26, 2012. Currently, the only ways to get it are to either have previously obtained one, through trading with someone who owns one or through the use of a cheat device or hacking. The events for Japan in 2010, Australia, Europe and America 2011 would give you the Liberty Pass which enables travelling to Liberty Garden while all the other will allow you to receive Victini directly through Wi-Fi. Victini was originally designed for Generation IV but was held back. Victini is the only legitimate Pokémon with the Pokedex number of #000 (Unova Pokedex number not national number).
The Event TrioThe Event trio consists of the event Pokémon Meloetta, Genesect and also Musketeer member Keldeo. As of 1 September 2012, Keldeo was available at all GAME and Gamestation stores in the UK, and the event will end on October 11. Genesect at level 15 was distributed through Wi-Fi for Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 on the release day (10/7/12) for the US. Meloetta was available through GAME, Gamestation, and GameStop Stores.
Genesect has an alternate High-Speed Flight form which only appears in the Black and White movie. Meloetta has only appeared in the anime, briefly accompanying Ash's group. Also, Keldeo has only appeared in the movie Kyurem and the Sword of Justice.
The Sixth Generation
The sixth generation legendary Pokémon (Japanese: 伝説のポケモンの第六世代 Densetsu no Pokemon no Dai Roku-sedai) are the sixth generation legendary Pokémon introduced in the Pokémon series. These Pokémon originates and are most likely appearing the Kalos region. Five legendary Pokémon are known, the Yggdrasil Trio, and Mega Mewtwo.
Yggdrasil TrioThe members of the Yggdrasil Trio consist of Xerneas, a Fairy-type Pokemon, Yveltal, a Dark/Flying-type Pokémon, and Zygarde, a Dragon/Ground Pokemon. While Yveltal and Zygarde are dual type Pokemon, Xerneas is the only member of the Yggdrasil Trio that is not.
Two of the legendary Pokémon are also the main mascots of the video games Pokémon X and Y which Xerneas represents Pokémon X and Yveltal represents Pokémon Y. There may be a Pokémon Z in the works (or Pokémon X2 and Y2, which would follow the example set by Pokemon Black2 and White2), given the third member of a legendary trio is always featured as a star Pokémon. In either Pokemon X or Y, Team Flare would try using the dormant form of Xerneas or Yveltal to power the Ultimate Weapon; it remains to be seen if they will try something similar with Zygarde in a sequel.
The reason why Xeneas and Yveltal are sometimes considered as the Gene Duo is due to the reason that they represent the letters of the two gender chromosomes, X and Y. It can also be inferred that Xerneas is female, as females have the XX chromosome set; and that Yveltal is male, as males have the XY chromosome set however this has not been confirmed; Zygarde may be genderless like most other Legendary Pokemon. The theme between the duo of Xerneas and Yveltal is enternal life and destruction. Given Zygarde's role as protector of the enviroment, he may be a representation of the middle ground between Xerneas and Yveltal , which is the state of the environment that decides how long others can live.
Generation VI introduces Mega Pokémon, a new type of evolution. The Genetic Pokémon Mewtwo is able to Mega Evolve into two different Mega Pokémon depending on the version of the game. He can turn into Mega Mewtwo X using a Mewtwonite X- which is available in X version, and Mega Mewtwo Y using a Mewtwonite Y - which is available in Y version. Mega Mewtwo X is a dual Psychic/Fighting-type while Mega Mewtwo Y retains Mewtwo's pure Psychic nature. The ability and stats of Mega Mewtwo also differs between version.
- Not to be confused with Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon.
Several Pokémon are often disputed as to whether or not they are Legendary and are often mistaken as true Legendaries by fans.
- Deoxys Copy - though they are copies created by a Legendary, they are very weak and cannot fight alone. They are also anime only.
- Phione - Phione is bred from the Mythical Manaphy and a Ditto but it has been disputed if it is legendary/mythical or not, official sources have differed on the matter.
- Rotom - Rotom is often thought of as Legendary due to its multiple forms and appearing in a special event, as well as there only being one in-game. It is also labelled as a Legendary in the DP Pokedex Book, although the same book has several other errors (numbering in the double digits) both major and minor.
- Arcanine - Arcanine is commonly misconstructed as a Legendary Pokemon, mainly because of an episode (named Pokemon Emergency!, and known to be the second episode of the show) which showed Arcanine as one of the four legendary Pokémon on the tablet at the Viridian City Pokémon Center. Despite not actually being a legendary Pokémon, this reflects its species description as the "Legendary" Pokémon, and creates a common misconception.
