Klinklang (Japanese: ギギギアル, HepburnGigigiaru) (KLEENK-klang[1]) is a Steel-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

Biology[]

Physiology[]

Klinklang has changed significantly from its previous evolved forms. With a large spiked metal ring on the bottom held by a medium-sized gear, it has a large gear in the back and a small gear in the upper left area and another one near the center. Klinklang has a red core at the center of its body that is surrounded by a spiked ring.

Behavior[]

Klinklang is able to fire off energy by rapidly rotating its mini gear attached to its red core. It also releases enormous amounts of electrical energy from the spikes on its large ring. The third gear attached to Klinklang is not a living creature.

In the anime, Klinklang is shown to be used by humans for powering up machinery, such as helicopters.

Evolution[]

Klinklang evolves from Klang at level 49, and is the final evolution of Klink.

Trivia[]

  • Klinklang is the only Pokémon which is used twice by N; the first used in Chargestone Cave as a Klink, and used in the final battle against him as a Klinklang.
  • Klink, Klang and Klinklang's right gear stays the same as it evolves.
  • Sometime prior to the release of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, there was a fake leak of Klinklang having a Mega Evolution lurking around on the internet. Although it had been debunked as fake, PJ072: Everybody's Doing the Underground Shuffle! actually used it as a joke reference from the shop owner in the said episode.

Origin[]

Klink is based on a set of gears that interlock. As for the specific gears they are based on, they are possibly based on spur, sun and planet, and external gears. Its Shiny coloration appears to be based on copper gears due to their noses turning green, something that happens to copper during chemical reactions. Compared with the others of its evolutionary line, Klinklang may be based on a build-up toy.

Etymology[]

Klinklang comes from cling and clang (both being metallic sounds). It may also incorporate link, as Klinklang is made of multiple parts linked together.

Its Japanese name, Gigigiaru, comes from giga (a prefix meaning "big") and gear. The repetition of "gi" three times in its name may allude to how it is the third stage of its evolutionary line.
