He studied under [[Chuck]]'s teachings. Once, he encountered a [[Tyrogue]] abandoned by its trainer and tried to befriend it, but Tyrogue just kept getting into more and more trouble. Kiyo gained an opportunity and fought with Tyrogue in a hand-to-hand battle and won. Tyrogue gained respect and became its friend.
