Joltik is a tiny arachnid-like Pokémon covered in fuzzy yellow fur. Unlike normal arachnids, Joltik has only four stubby legs with blue tips. It has two large blue ovular eyes, and two smaller simple eyes of the same color above them. It has a small fuzz-covered mouth. It has a round pinkish patch on its underbelly.
No other Pokémon has the same type combination of Joltik and its evolution Galvantula.
At 0.1 m, Joltik is tied with Flabébé and Cosmoem as the smallest known Pokémon.
Joltik is one of two Electric Pokémon that cannot learn Thunder, the other being Tynamo.
Joltik is revealed as the "Smallest Pokemon" in Guinness World Records 2012: Gamer's Edition.
Joltik can also be found on Route 116 in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire with the National Pokédex, received from Professor Birch after defeating or catching Kyogre/Groudon.
Joltik is likely based on a baby spider, or tick. Like a tick, it will latch onto larger Pokémon, but instead of biting and parasitically draining blood like a real world tick, Joltik only drains the static electricity from the Pokémon's fur.
Joltik's name is a combination of the words "jolt" (referring to its Electric element), and "tick".
