||
− | Jellicent (Japanese: ブルンゲル Burungeru) is a Water/Ghost-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V. Along with its pre-evolutions, it has gender differences with stereotypical colors associated with males and females with blue and pink respectively. The male also sports a white marking that takes up most of its front face resembling a mustache. One is used by Elite Four Shauntal and Gym Leader Marlon. |

+ | ===Physiology=== |
||
+ | Jellicent are enormous aquatic jellyfish-like Pokémon that share some traits with octopuses. They possess a regal appearance. Their bodies are mostly composed of sea water. Like its pre-evolution, its appearance varies depending on its gender. Male Jellicent are cyan blue in color with a thick light blue mustache-like membrane curing around his face; he has round blue eyes with red pupils, and his three lower tentacles are lined with diamond-shaped light blue markings. Female Jellicent are bright pink in color, with a frilly light pink membrane curling around her body, red eyes with blue pupils and two long black eyelashes, and a red lip-like mouth; her lower tentacles are bordered by light pink frills. Jellicent have large, round, bulbous heads with small crown-like features on top. |
||
+ | |||
+ | ===Gender differences=== |
||
+ | Male Jellicent have blue bodies, wavy tentacles, and a mustache. Females have pink bodies, fluffy tentales, and a fluffy crest. |
||
+ | |||
+ | ===Behavior=== |
||
+ | According to legends, Jellicent are territorial, they seem to capture, and consume anything that enters their territories (including ships), by dragging them down into the depths of the ocean. These Pokémon mate for life and tend to be social amongst others of their kind. Swarms of Jellicent are often found in ocean trenches and abysses. When night falls, Jellicent venture to the ocean's surface to feed.They tend to be found more frequently near cruise ships and tankers full of passengers. Jellicent feed on life force, leaving victims as empty husks that sink down into the ocean depths. They even seem to congregate at the ocean's surface on nights of the full moon, when ships are most plentiful. Their crowns are thought to grow larger the more life force they consume. It is said that on the ocean floor lies a Jellicent castle made of sunken shipwrecks. Superstitious sailors purport that this castle is an attempt by Jellicent, believed to be the souls of people lost at sea, to reclaim their old lives in an undersea civilization. |
||
+ | |||
+ | ===Special Abilities=== |
||
+ | Jellicent absorb sea water and propel themselves through the water by rapidly expelling it.In fact, their body compositions are almost exactly identical to the composition of seawater. |

Jellicent (Japanese: ブルンゲル, Hepburn: Burungeru) (JEL-ih-sent[1]) is a Water/Ghost-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V.
Biology
Physiology
Jellicent are enormous aquatic jellyfish-like Pokémon that share some traits with octopuses.
Gender differences
Male Jellicent have blue bodies, wavy tentacles, and a mustache. Females have pink bodies, fluffy tentales, and a fluffy crest.
Behavior
According to legends, Jellicent are territorial, they seem to capture, and consume anything that enters their territories (including ships), by dragging them down into the depths of the ocean.
Special Abilities
Jellicent absorb sea water and propel themselves through the water by rapidly expelling it.In fact, their body compositions are almost exactly identical to the composition of seawater.
Evolution
Jellicent evolves from Frillish at level 40.

Trivia
- In Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, you can catch Jellicent in Undella Town (depending on which version you have, and what day it is). If you have Black 2, and it's Thursday, you can catch male Jellicent. If you have White 2, and it's Sunday, you can catch female Jellicent.
- It also appears to look like Drifblim. Coincidentally, they are both part Ghost types.
- Jellicent and its pre-evolution, Frillish, are the only dual-type Pokémon that can learn Water Spout.
- A male Jellicent resembles Mr. Pringles, the mascot for the Pringles chip brand.
Origin
Jellicent is based on a jellyfish. It also slightly resembles an octopus. The tufts on top of their heads look like crowns and their all around regal appearance make them look like a "king" and "queen". It may be based on the Nurarihyon, a yōkai that appears as a jellyfish-like man wearing royal clothing. It also may be based on the Kraken, a giant sea monster usually depicted as an oversized squid.
Jellicent is also likely inspired from the Shui Gui (水鬼, water ghost). Shui Guis are the spirits of people who have died from being drowned. They lurk in the place where they died after drowning, dragging unsuspecting victims underwater and drowning them to take possession of their bodies.
Etymology
Jellicent may be a combination of "jellyfish", "translucent", "magnificent" (as it looks aristocratic) and "descent" (as it is known to drag ships down to their doom beneath the sea).
