Trivia

  • Herdier is one of a few Pokémon in Black and White that, rather than have a synthesized sound serving as its cry, it has a more realistic cry, sounding like a barking dog.

Origin

Herdier is based on the Yorkshire Terrier breed of dog.

Etymology

Herdier's name is most likely derived from a combination of the words "herder" and "terrier", since Yorkshire Terriers may have been used for herding in the past.
