Hagatha has many Hoothoot she rents to cross the forest, but one particular is not very reliable, but likes girls instead. Ash tried to bond with it, but failed, as Hoothoot pecked him and listened to Misty instead. Despite the many illusions in the forest, Ash managed to convince Hoothoot to rescue Misty, using a red ray to detect Ghost Pokémon.
