- RB: This can be obtained in a house near the Cycling Road close to Celadon City.

Generation III
- RSE: This can be obtained by defeating your rival before entering Fortree City.
- FRLG: This can be obtained in a house near the Cycling Road close to Celadon City.
Generation IV
- DPPt: In Solaceon Town, when Dawn ask you for help, and you beat the Team Galactic . Looker will ask you to follow him, when you've entered the Headquarters you'll see the pokeball that contains the HM02.
- HGSS: This can be obtained by defeating Chuck and exiting out of the gym, alerting Chuck's wife, thus giving the HM.
Generation V
- BW: HM02 can be obtained by defeating Bianca in Driftveil City.
